Good afternoon, Felinity Assembled...anyone out there? Anyone miss us?
Elvira Mistress of Felinity, here, and I want to apologize.
It has been April of last year since our last blog post.
The last comments were left to our posts of that month.
At the time Daddy Kiril was recovering from being run over by a motorist while in a crosswalk, and Sneakers, Friday, and I were doing our part to nurse him back to health.
We take pride in how good we are with this responsibility!
He returned to work in May, as well as slowly beginning to write more, in the process, especially by May.
So why nothing from us?
I know it is a sorry excuse, but we blame the damn Chinese! That virus had us concerned so we spent our waking moments keeping close tabs on Daddy...to the point that Sneakers & Friday have taken to loitering on his desk, in his lap, and on the back of his chair, a lot, so as to better judge his health and mood from day to day.
We take some credit for the fact that he has not been sick since a serious bout of the flu in Dec. 2020.
Anyway, enough with that!
Why a return to posting now? As if anyone will notice, hee, hee!
Daddy Kiril woke up, yesterday, to find a challenge from Writer's Digest in his Facebook feed.
A month-long challenge... for anyone up to it.
"Write a piece of flash fiction each day of February with the February Flash Fiction Challenge, led by editor Moriah Richard. Each day, receive a prompt, example story, and write your own."
So, he wrote a story... and I watched him do it.
The last time I wrote a piece of Flash Fiction was in Jan. 2019! Hope I am not rusty.
Speaking of the collective Flash Fiction efforts of the Opinionated Pussycats, from Nikita, to us...I am considering going thru the archives and creating a post that lists everything, properly numbered, so we know just how many of everything we actually have written.
So, with the intro out of the way, here is my story...comments & shares are very much welcome.
The Day 2 Prompt from the Human writing them at Writer's Digest?
"I’m recalling writing advice about naturally ratcheting up tension: Take something usual and have it do something unusual."
She is a Good Kitty! by Elvira Mistress of Felinity
The front door was wide open.
Princess crouched in her litter box, made curious by the sight. It was dark—after midnight, Daddy was home from work and she woke up to go take a shit as he prepared the food bowl—but this night she was distracted from her purpose by the fact Daddy was NOT in the kitchen.
The front door sat, like an eye blown wide, and Princess heart was beating fast as she was torn between finishing her business, or running to the door to go out on the porch and see what Daddy was doing.
In all her 11 years she had NEVER darted outside when the door was open, no matter for how long.
Not even once!
But she was getting on in years-her mentor, the Old Man, had lived to 15, after all.
He had told her of his misadventures, the times he had snuck outside, before she had come into his life as a shelter kitten, when he was 10.
She so wanted to experience the outside at least one time before she went to Rainbow Bridge!
That was a good story and we're really glad to see you posting. We've been wondering how y'all have been down that way.

Well done! A proper lady may have used the word crap instead of sh*t. :)
Nice to see a post from you.

Thank you all for your kind words and support.
As for me being a "proper lady"...
Everyone should know me by NOW, hee, hee!
You know who my mentor was, after all. :-D

My human is so cautious about me and doors, that I've never gotten the chance to go out on my own! Except that one time I was really young and decided to bolt out the hotel room door when she was bringing in her suitcase. She had to chase me up and down the hallway and the maids were laughing.
I enjoyed your story lots! It's nice to see you all again.
