Good morning, Felinity Assembled...anyone out there? Anyone miss me?
Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo, here, and I want to apologize.
It has been New Year's Eve 2018 since my last blog post, and before that it was June.
Watching Elvira, yesterday, I wanted to return to action, too.
The Day 3 Flash Fiction February Prompt from the Human writing them at Writer's Digest?
Write a story that incorporates the color red.
I thought about it a bit, after breakfast and, after wandering thru the archives of this blog, decided an update to a pair of stories from our founder, Mr. Nikita, was doable.
The original was written in June 2010 -- Goblins: A 100 Word Story
The re-write was written in June 2013 -- Goblins: A 100 Word Cat Story Revisited in 166 Words
Here is my take on the story... comments & shares are very much welcome.
Goblins: A Lesson For the Pandemic Era By Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo (Dedicated to the Memory of the legendary Mr. Nikita)
I am Thomasina, a cat.
I live on the streets.
I have seen much in my long life.
I have sent many kittens into the world.
I have tried to teach my offspring the keys to survival.
Most importantly, I wanted them to be aware that your mind can play tricks on you.
Sometimes my lessons did not take.
I had always warned about goblins; they are worse than coyotes!
I tried to impress upon my kittens that you never know when one might pounce.
Seven years ago Sylvester didn't listen to me and, well...
Last Summer, in the early days of the current human pandemic, Felix saw a discarded red mask in some bushes outside of MD Anderson Hospital.
Witnesses said that, unlike them, he did not warily watch the bushes, ready to run if need be; he felt there was no need.
He was in a playful mood and thought it would be fun to wrestle with the mask a few minutes before going to take a nap in the parking garage.
He was told it could be a trick, a distraction, something to lure him into trouble.
Felix ignored the warnings….and no-one ever saw him again.
NEXT UP -- The Day 4 entry is by Daddy Kiril, over at his blog.
Dang Felix, you didn't get the old curiosity lesson!?!?

aaawww! A goblin masquerading as a carelessly discarded red face mask! Poor Felix. A pandemic cautionary tale.
