Good evening felinity assembled, Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo, here.
Welcome to Day 6 of the Poetry A Day Challenge by Robert Lee Brewer, of the wonderful Poetic Asides Blog, at Writer's Digest.
"For today’s prompt, write a jealous poem. Maybe you’re jealous. Or maybe someone else is jealous of you–or someone else. Whether envious of another or suspicious of a partner, dive deep into this emotion today."
Remember: These prompts are just springboards; you have the freedom to jump in any direction you want."
(The Day 1 poem, by me, is here)
As fans of his blog know, beginning with Nikita, the Opinionated Pussycats have been Stroller Kitties and...beginning with Miss Elvira, have even tried our paw at being Leash Lionesses.
It's been over 3 years, though, and while we still have the leashes, Daddy Kiril needs to get us a new stroller, when he can afford to do so.
It's been 5 years since I tried on the leash....and we never did go outside, darn it!
The archive, with all its photos, can be explored here.
This brings me to the subject of todays poem.
As far as we know, while we can accompany our human to many places, we know of no cafes, where dogs are allowed, that also allow felines to accompany their humans, or that allow us, but no dogs.
As far as we know there are no "Cat Parks" where felines can take their humans, and hang out with other felines and gossip, and play.
Have you seen some of these places? Wow!
So, here is my poem!
Jealousy by Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo
Dear dog
When I see you
Walking your human
Down the street,
To the Dog Park,
I am only jealous
For one reason.
When we cats
Take our human out
For walkies, or a stroller trip,
There's no community playground
And gathering place for us to visit.
What's up with that?
What are we? Chopped Tuna?
UP NEXT: Poetry A Day Challenge 8: Luck
I'm perfectly happy to roam hotel hallways and my yard on my leash. I don't need a park or cafe... well, a cafe would be nice.
