Good evening, felinity assembled!
Long time no see! Friday the Bearded Lady, here!
Welcome to Day 2 of the Poetry A Day Challenge by Robert Lee Brewer, of the wonderful Poetic Asides Blog, at Writer's Digest.
"Today is actually a special day: Two for Tuesday! Pick one prompt or use both…your choice!
Write a worst case poem. What’s the worst that could happen?
Write a best case poem. Take the worst and reverse it!
Remember: As mentioned yesterday, these prompts are just springboards; you have the freedom to jump in any direction you want."
(The Day 1 poem, by Sneakers, is here)
So, I got to thinking...
And this is what I came up with!
THE DECISION by Friday the Bearded Lady
To nab (“steal” is too strong a word) a bite or not,
That’s the decision before me.
Easter Dinner is on the table,
With sliced turkey tempting me so!
My humans are greeting guests
And no one would miss a bit of turkey, would they?
But, then again, someone
Might see me!
I’d be tossed in the laundry room
For the rest of the night,
Or possibly worse!
Oh, what the heck,
We Cats are said to
Have 9 lives, right?
And, I’m hungry!
NEXT UP: Day 3 - Poetry A Day Challenge 3: Cats and Poetry
Flicka said: Listen, I have to say. If you leave food out and turn your back and don't expect clever cats to investigate, you are fooling yourself. Kitty is doing what comes naturally.
