Meowy Chrissymouse, felinity assembled!
Hope you got lots of nifty treats and presents from your humans, or at least plenty of extra belly rubs, and lap time.
We have been getting the latter, hee, hee!
I awoke this morning looking for a way to end this difficult year on a creative high note and found the inspiration in a new holiday piece by the Godfather of the Catblogosphere himself, Laurence Simon!
His 100 Word Stories Podcast is, as he describes it, "the longest-running daily podcast of original material in the world."
His work became not only a creative inspiration for Daddy Kiril, but for us, as well, beginning with Nikita.
Our last 100 word story was in August 2014, and our last 200 word story was in June 2017 (See the archives in the sidebar).
As for Daddy Kiril his last 100 Word Story was in 2013 and his last 200 Word Story was to celebrate New Year's 2017!
Shame on all of us, I told him, this morning, after I wrote my latest...We can all do better than that!
So, here goes...
Charley’s 1st Christmas: A 200 Word Cat Story By Elvira Mistress of Felinity (12/25/18)
Charley was a Maine Coon kitten. He was 3 months old, living at the North Pole.
North Pole cats grew up to be mousers.
Charley wasn’t enthused.
He was sure there was more to life than that.
He wanted to go with Santa on Christmas.
“There’s lots I’ll never see living here,” he said, pulling out a copy of National Geographic.
His parents told him no…repeatedly.
Charley bided his time, planning.
He was always smiling during training.
He learned how to track and catch mice.
He worked harder at it than anyone in his class.
Christmas Eve finally arrived.
During the hustle and bustle of loading the sleigh and getting Rudy and the gang fed and in place for lift off Charley went dashing through the snow, sneaking on to the sleigh unnoticed. Unknown to him so did a mouse with similar dreams, ones that did not include being lunch.
NORAD, for the 64th year in a row, went about tracking Santa’s journey, providing every news station in the world with updates via its various social media. Everything was fine until the sleigh headed over the Sahara Desert…
Then the blip on the radar disappeared.
Christmas would never be the same…
Nnnooooo! Creative, yes, but .... I guess it will have me thinking for awhile. Well, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Elvira and Sneakers and Friday.
