Good afternoon felinity assembled, Elvira Mistress of Felinity here...
A little over 7 years ago, a soon to be 10-year-old part Maine Coon began a cat blog after sharing online space with his human since 1998 and the rest is history.
The journalism, reviews, poetry, stories, opinion, humor, photos and more found here have been shared and praised around the globe.
Praising Nikita and Meowsings!
Praising Elvira & The Opinionated Pussycat
Praising Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo
The last couple of years has not seen us performing at our absolute best, or most frequent, though the encouragement still comes our way.
The last awards we received were the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, the Versatile Blogger Award and the Liebster Blog Award, all in 2013.
The last praise I and this blog received was 9 months ago.
The last and ONLY, time Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo got some praise for her writing was a year ago last Sunday.
Well, OK, about those last 2...a Google search, last night, led to a few previously unknown recommendations I can add to the list...
Felinity Magazine - "Opinionated Pussycat, despite tough times for its writers and their human, remains a fine repository of many things feline worth mentioning."
The National Recorder of Feline Literature and Science - "The journalism, poetry, and storytelling of The Opinionated Pussycat are innovative and ground-breaking. The stories of Aubry and Houston Hairy are 2 series that only serve to whet the appetite of the curious for more."
Old Felinity Assembled's Almanac - "The Opinionated Pussycat is a family blog, though not what many fans of pet blog genre are used to. It is outspoken on the issues, devoted to good cat/human relations, but edgy and unique in its poetry, humor, storytelling and photography. It covers foreign and domestic news, commercial interests, feral felinity, rescues, science, art and more in a style all its own."
Sir Winnie Burmillahill (Agnes Repplier Award and Soseki Natsume Prize, winning feline writer) - In a Boxing Day 2016 Interview with the BFBC (British Feline Broadcasting Corporation) he was asked about the feline creative scene in America and replied...
"I am easily satisfied with the very best and, personal difficulties of their human notwithstanding, The Opinionated Pussycats, in America, are among the very best.
These cats, beginning with the much missed Mr. Nikita and continuing with the fine ladies now behind the keyboard, have enemies and that is good. That means that they have stood up for something, several somethings, actually.
They have been and continue to be a prime example, for the writers among us, of the belief that one should never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty — never give in except to your creative muse when it strikes you."
Sir Winnie was knighted by Queen Elisabeth II's Corgis for his long creative career!
We also have the cat books by those 2 humans in our collection!
I have added these to our Special Page that collects reviews from individual felines and feline media, beyond the pages linked above. The most recent additions, before now, were made last February.
I am sure there are reviews of Sneakers Houston Hairy series, but I've yet to find them.
In light of this, as this blog looks forward to the future, I find myself asking What Would Nikita Do?
Yes, we begin the year finding ourselves listed on Thoroughly Reviewed and Feed Spot, but those listings are fleeting acknowledgments subject to the whims of traffic stats we have no control of.
Looking at things we have done in the past Sneakers and I have talked about reviving several old series of ours and figuring out how best to search for news stories to share and comment on.
We are not the only ones who have done that sort of blogging, though our way of sharing is uniquely our own but don't know how, or what search terms, those felines use to find the great stories they share.
I use cat, cats, kitten and kittens as search terms on Google but, even Nikita, who first did so, was never satisfied with the results and neither am I.
We want to, finally, revive the Elvira Factor - Enter the No Bull Zone! , Texas Tuesday With Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo ( maybe change its name and give it a broader focus, like the Factor), and do more of the type of reports that belong in World Mews Repurrt: We Report, You Toss In Your 2 Cents!
We also discussed 2 award ideas of our own, one I first dreamed up 5 years ago this month but never followed up on, the Golden Paw Award and introducing a "tongue-lashing" award by Sneakers to go along with a revival of my own "knucklehead" award on the Factor.
See the badge, created years after the first award was given, here...
Would readers go for those, even send us links to story suggestions? I don't know.
Happy Blogoversary, seven years is a nice milestone!

Well, we must furst say Happy Blogoversary. It appears we got the second half of this post as ifin it were a subject change to the Morris posty. You're right, we don't exactly unnerstand da humor, but dat's okay. We believe everyone should write fur themselves furst and furmost. We're not da most pawpular blog on da playground either. A lot of dat has to do with the length of our postys, as most peeps don't wanna take, or don't have much time to read a lengthy post. On those occasions we usually see a very generic comment relating to da title, or a line or two in our post. And dat's okay too. While we do have hopes of bein' award writin' Service Cats some day, in da meantime, We're just happy, bein' us. We think you all be gawjus, and wish you da bestest in all your endeavors. Big hugs
Luv ya'
Dezi and Raena
