Good afternoon, felinity assembled, Elvira Mistress of Felinity here...as longtime readers know we have Pay Pal links in the sidebars of this blog and Daddy Kiril's to accept donations that help daddy with his and our upkeep.
This year has not been the easiest for him, but he's managed, with help, to keep us in kibble and litter and kept a roof over our heads and get us our shots and Revolution.
Today, though, I decided to share something his sister set up a month ago:
For a Kind Caring Brother: A GoFundMe Fundraising Campaign
I hadn't planned on saying a word here, doing as Daddy Kiril said do and just letting things play out as this campaign was the idea of his sister, and he wanted to see where things would go...The only thing he did was invite her to share the link on his Facebook, not just hers (where there have been a few shares) and advise her to do a spell check, hee, hee!...I think she forgot, though, so daddy finally mentioned it the other day.
She says some real nice things about him to make her case and for that we thank her.
It hasn't gone far in 28 days...
While daddy works 38-40 hours a week he still lives paycheck to paycheck, paying his few bills and keeping himself in food, medication, and household supplies and us in kibble and litter, as best he can.
The occasional financial donation has helped us as well; a friend recently even sent him a care package of items for the pantry and, today, our vet offered a, almost full, 7lb bag of just expired Royal Canin cat food they would just toss out.
Well before he rescued little Friday, in Sept., he set up his most recent doctor appointments and goofed by taking paid personal time, not just requesting the 2 days off as usual...Maybe Ceiling Cat knew something we didn't as the extra money popped up in his latest paycheck last week just when he really needed it.
This means that he was be able to pay 4 due bills and little Friday's last round of early kitten shots, today...a donation helped him get some food until next week's paycheck.
He can't use his Care Credit Card for us, for a while, because the balance has maxed out, and needs to be paid down a lot....He still also needs to be sure to have $200 for Friday, by mid-Dec, when he re-ups his apartment lease and has to get Friday the Bearded Lady's last round of shots, rabies and license, and get Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo's annual shots and license, too...Extra pay for working Thanksgiving and a quarterly work bonus, next month, will help with that a little, it looks like.
All this month Daddy Kiril has been writing a series of blog posts, on his blog, with the theme of "never giving up" and began the series this way...
"Feel like life is a challenge and daily difficulties seem to be diverting your attention from moving forward with your hopes and dreams?
Feel like people may have given up on you, even said something to that effect directly to you, or in an email?
Feel like people you admire may have forgotten about you in your creative corner of the universe?
Don't give up. Don't lose faith in yourself or your dreams.
The world is yours..."
He even mentions us in a few of the posts:
Never Giving Up...Feline Edition
Never Giving Up On Sleep in a House Full of Cats
Fridays Don't Give Up So Don't You Give Up Either!
Daddy has been having this feeling that 2016 will be a different year for him and us, creatively and progress can be made on our writing hopes and dreams, so I want to leave you with this little song he wrote the other day:
"Oh! How I Hate To Give Up In the Evening,
Oh! How I don’t want to go to sleep
For the hardest blow of all is to put an end to my creative call:
'You've got to give up, you've got to give up,
You've got to give up, it’s near midnight!'"
Someday I'm going to refuse to surrender
Someday I’ll ignore the temptation of the bed
I'll grab my notepad and write in it heavily
And spend the rest of the night inspired instead!
If ev'rything goes well with me I'll be a published writer soon!
"Oh! how I hate to give up In the evening,
Oh! How I don’t want to go to sleep
For the hardest blow of all is to put an end to my creative call:
'You've got to give up, you've got to give up,
You've got to give up, it’s near midnight!'"
Oh, boy! The minute my first work is accepted
Oh, boy! The minute the book is published
I'll put my pen away, take a nice warm bath
And spend the rest of my life in bed!
I hope, dear reader, that you like this post and will share it around your social networks.
****UPDATE - 2/23/16 ****
Daddy Kiril has asked his sister to end the GoFundMe campaign as it went nowhere, raising only $105, the last of 3 donations being 2 months ago.
If you want to donate to us our paypal button remains in the sidebar for your convenience.
