Memorial Day: It's Not Just About the Kibble, Treats, and Playtime - a version of the following was originally posted by Mr. Nikita, for Memorial Day 2012...and we can't think of any better way honor this day.
Elvira Mistress of Felinity
Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo
We here, at the Feline News Network, & The Opinionated Pussycat, wish to dedicate this post to all Critters, not just Canines, who have given their lives for their country, while serving in the U. S. Military in some capacity, whatever that may have been. We encourage you to explore the collection of over 20 links, on our special page called "Animals in the Military and Pets for Vets"
We also encourage you to share a link to this post with friends, family, and on whatever Social Service you are part of.
Never Forget =^..^=
What a week it has been!
Elvira, here, and I had intended to post this on Monday night....but the plumbing at Ceiling Cat's Home apparently broke and His Human couldn't get it fixed!
Well, that's as good an explanation as the human weathermen can give for what happened Monday/Tuesday, from 8pm to 4am, and I'm sticking to it!
Our corner of Houston got 11 inches of rain! There has been lots of flooding.
Humans and their animals, plus animals who live on the street, have been greatly affected in many parts of the city and county and across 47 or more Texas counties.
Sneakers and I sat in our window perches and watched and listened as a near non-stop rain, thunder and lightning show (several "supercells" passing through, taking their own sweet time about it) occurred outside our apartment and Daddy Kiril kept abreast of things on his computer.
Daddy tried and failed to get to his work by bike, the next morning, writing a blog post about his adventure, with lots of photos of what he saw.
A Man From Southern California Lives Through His First Houston Flood...
We are expecting more rain, for the next 7 days, though not as much as that night, and flooding could be a continuing issue in many areas.
Sneakers, as the Texian Tuxedo, plans a major post Thursday or Friday night, and is skipping naps and snoozes to do some research.
As a special holiday tribute edition this CoTC will not be the usual....
For us Cat Bloggers the Carnival is a chance to discover blogs we might never have heard of, on subjects of all kinds!
It is an opportunity for us to reach an audience we might not otherwise reach.
It is a chance to promote a post or 2, each week, that we think will be of interest to others, and to pitch them using more than 140 characters or just a short sentence barely long enough to get a point across.
Submissions and tips can be sent to: carnivalofthecats(at)gmail (dot) com
They must be received by 3pm EST, each Sunday (ideally we’d like posts submitted by Midnight EST Saturday, but know regulars who share Sunday posts), so the host can have time to post the current CoTC Sunday evening, or no later than Tuesday evening.
If you enjoy the Carnival of the Cats leave a comment and spread the word!
Let's get this show on the road!

I'm glad you all survived those supercells - we were concerned here in California!
