Mr. Nikita RIP: My Original Muse
October 25th came and went and, with so much on my mind, as I began considering a move, the anniversary of the passing of my original creative muse, Mr. Nikita, completely slipped my mind.
Good afternoon, felinity assembled, Daddy Kiril here....
A lot has happened in the year since I helped Nikita to the Bridge and, a few weeks later, Miss Sneakers walked out of some bushes and into my heart.
In addition to the 42 posts on this blog the last 3 months of 2013, there have been 126 posts from Jan. through November of this year.
It has not been an easy year, personally, yet I am healthy, the cats are healthy and continue to inspire me in my creativity, and we will be moving to a smaller, cheaper, apartment, closer to my job, in 2 weeks.
Finding new digs is the extent of my Christmas shopping and gift giving to myself and the cats, this year, as all income goes toward the move.
I miss Nikita so much yet Elvira Mistress of Felinity continues to bring me joy and inspiration as only she can.
With the addition of a young kitten, playful and full of energy, into her life, Elvira has herself found her own way to move on after the passing of a much older cat from her life.
Speaking of the young new addition....
Gappy Dotcha Hay to Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo!
She has come a long way since that mid-november day, last year, when she entered my, and Elvira's lives.
I took her to the vet, this afternoon, for her annual check-up and shots, including rabies and to get her nails trimmed; she is healthy and weighs just over 10 lbs, the same as she did 3 months ago.
Luckily for me the cost of all this could be put on my Care Credit card.
A talkative, curious, playful kitty, she can be quite outspoken when she feels put upon, hee, hee!
You should have heard her, um, vocabulary, when the vet and her assistant set about giving her her shots and check-up.
Like Elvira, though, while she may play hard to get when being put in her carrier, she enjoys the journey once inside.
I look forward to introducing her to the joys of being a Stroller Kitty, some time next year, when I can afford to buy a new stroller.
I have hopes and dreams for this blog and my creativity in 2015, with some ideas already stirring in my head.
The first thing will be paying my 2015 membership in the Cat Writers Association, hoping they can forgive me for being a nearly inactive member this year (one of my proudest moments this year was having a poem in the CWA newsletter).
There have been other encouragers, via interviews and guest posts and review opportunities, as well as donations to our paypal; for all of this I can't say thank you enough.
I'll end this post with a link to a piece I wrote on my other blog, last summer, as I began to think more about the future, and moving to new digs...
Let's Talk Creativity a Bit and a "City With No Limits"
As for the greatest accomplishment, creatively, on this blog in 2014? A poem and 4 chapter story, with photos, that took a lot of thought and effort to write...
A Street in Laredo: A Ballad of the 8th Texian Tuxedo
Journalistically speaking the top accomplishment was a 5 parter on the stray cat and dog crisis here in Houston, from last spring....
The Elvira Factor 12: Houston We Have a Problem
I invite you to read, comment on and even share these posts.
This has not been an easy year for you, but you've come through it very well - good for you! And Happy Gotcha Day to Sneakers!

Elvira, hello from one tortoiseshell to another!
My foster brother, Munchkin, and I were recently adopted by the Allens after our former Daddy passed away.
I'm 15 and Munchkin is OLDER.
Happy Gotcha Day to Sneakers -- the best day of anybody's year!

Happy Gotcha Day to Sneakers. I know every time we lose a pet, we lose a piece of our heart, but I am glad another came along to help you through.
