Good evening, felinity assembled, Daddy Kiril here.
Elvira Mistress of Felinity is taking a nap; an extremely well deserved one as you shall see.
Meow is the award-winning, quarterly, member newsletter of the Cat Writers' Association.
As readers know the CWA is the professional writers’ association "encouraging professionalism among cat writers, photographers, artists, and broadcasters" that I was sponsored to become a professional member of in the aftermath of attending Blog Paws last Spring.
There are 4 yrs. of archived issues, online, for members to read, and to explore these 20 to 40 page masterpieces is to open a whole new world of perspective altering, hope inspiring, thought-provoking reading.
As I wrote the editor, today, I may not have yet participated much in the various CWA social media forums, but I DO read.
A few weeks ago a call went out for poetry submissions to the Spring 2014 issue. This was around the same time I had read a poem by Deitrich Bonhoeffer.
At the same time Elvira was beginning to read about the stray dog and cat crisis in Houston and, after reading the same poem, was inspired to write one of her own as part of her first response to the Houston story.
I submitted it to Meow. The editor had a "dilemma or two about the poem" including not being sure what was meant by the ending but understanding came when she read the poem that inspired it.
She finally "decided that it deserved an honored place despite the length."
It's a long poem, as have been many of the poems by Nikita, Elvira & I, and I am extremely honored to have it published in Meow, as is Elvira.
Paws UP! Congratulations on getting your poem published!
