When Daddy Kiril rides his bike to and from work he passes this huge white house with some steps leading up to the porch.
The house may double as a place of residence and place of business for the woman who runs the business.
Until Thursday daddy hadn't seen anything of interest when passing the place...then he saw this....
Seeing this scruffy looking cat staring out toward the street from the steps, under that sign, made daddy laugh.
It reminded him of 19th and early 20th century photos of men, alone or in groups, loitering outside saloons and houses of ill repute.
He imagined the cat enticing passing male and female,strays....
"Hey, you! Got relationship problems? Can't control the urge to flirt? Too many offspring as a result? Ya need an, um, operation? We can fix ya up right nicely. Problems solved. Cheap, too! No questions asked."
Seriously, Daddy Kiril and I feel the issues of cats on the streets and the benefit of gettting your companion(s) fixed are important ones and we are learning how serious the situation is related to the number of cats on the streets of Houston.
We have long had plenty of links and are looking to add more: Feral Feline Watch
We plan to cover the subject in the coming year.
On Friday he saw the cat there again so went inside to ask about it.
The cat is an 8 month old male who, like a beautiful adult Tortie he met on the porch, and 2 other cats, are strays that make the place home because the lady (with 2 cats of her own) gives them food and water.
She said he was recovering from a recent, apparent broken leg, but daddy saw little sign of that as he moved quite fast, when he approached the steps, disappearing around the side of the building.
The lady runs a popular clothing alteration business (a couple of cat loving ladies who went through his register at work, yesterday, said they used her services and were enthusiastic.) and says the cats often lounge on the steps and porch as if they own the place, forcing people to step over and around them to go in and out.

Quick alterations ... MOL!
That's a handsome kitty. How nice of the lady takes care of him and the other strays.
