Good morning, friends and fans of The Opinionated Pussycat, the vet check complete, we now know a few new things about the newbie!
I am officially outnumbered, 2 girls to 1 guy...
( FROM DADDY KIRIL: A Gift From Nikita Walks into Our Lives )
She weighs in at 2lbs. 100z..
She is 10 wks old, which puts her birth at around the 1st week of September,
I chose to make her official date of birth September 6th, which is Read a Book Day.
She apparently has not been to a vet before, as her nails were not cut, and her reaction to being examined, poked, prodded, stuck and inserted was, well...
Let's just say that Elvira, also in for a check, was very impressed with her, um, vocabulary, inspite of herself. :-D
We got her her first Feline Leukemia vaccine and FRCP and dewormed, as well as the Feline Felv/FIV SNAP test ($163 total on my Care Credit card).
She is beginning to lose some baby incisors and is a very healthy little girl.
She is a talkative, curious, playful, smart and feisty little lady, with very interesting markings for a Tuxie. Other than being a Domestic Shorthair I have no idea what breed she may be.
Is that a shark on her back? An indication, along with her talkativeness, that she will be as sassy as Elvira and as opinionated as Nikita and Elvira?
Along with her black face mask, she has a nearly complete white neck collar, and an all white tummy. Oh, and a black spot on her nose!
She has a white ring around the base of her tail, and all white shoes, with one of her socks being partially black.
I chose the name Sneakers for several reasons:
1. My friend Loni Gilbertson was the first to suggest it because "the kitten snuck out of the bushes and right into your heart."
2. Her shoes.
and as a tribute to Nikita....
3. He was my original muse from shortly after I adopted him as a kitten in 1998, around the same age as Sneakers, and I went on the internet for the first time.
My first blog, begun in 2002, was called Sneakeasy's Joint and Nikita slowly began to make his presense felt in the world of blogging during its 5 year run.
As for how the introduction went, on Thursday night....it was interesting and amusing.
Elvira will finally weigh in, here on the blog, beginning tomorrow, and show and tell in her own sassy style.
NEXT: The Meeting: Day 1
Congratulations on the new addition to your family, and welcome to Sneakers!

LOL! Sparkle. :-D
I have no doubt of that, but the cone dies make things a bit awkward right now.
She may not admit it, yet, but I saw Elvira with her tail up, briefly, yesterday. Too bad I didn't have my camera in my hands!

Adorable ... t'was meant to be, and certainly Nikita pointed the way for her.

Sneakers is a beautiful little girl and that shark on her back is very cool. How did you get Elvira to take that first pic with her cone still on?

A lovely description. Love the "white shoes" bit. Also love the description of the shark marking. I would not have gotten that had you not pointed it out. So clever!

I think she is a very cute kitty as they go... We are glad you have someone else to keep you company. All the best to Kiril and family...

Thank you Zoo, Socci and Brian.
As for Elvira, I just let her do what ever she wants and keep the camera ready.
She is used to the cone, by now, though I'm sure wishes she didn't have it on still.
Her Boo Boo is almost healed so the cone should come off soon.

I am so happy for you Kiril - and of course, Sneakers, too!
We have our first kitten in many years named Alice from the Palace and we have not had so many great belly laughs for a long time.
I am quite sure your are going to be well entertained.

Hello to Sneakers. At least she doesn't eat sneakers, which was our first guess when we saw her new name. Elvira and Sneakers. They should be good friends.

Hello Sneakers, I like your new name. You have a good Froot Bat thing going on there and I am glad you like to mooch in the cupboards.

Sneakers is a pawsome name. We do know another Sneakers and have always liked the name. We love the part about her sneaking into your heart. You look so happy with her on your shoulder. No matter your current circumstances, this was meant to be, and we know she will bring you and Elvira (eventually) much happiness.
