Good evening felinity assembled, Elvira Mistress of Felinity here.
Daddy took Nikita to the vet, this morning, and the results were interesting.
Nikita said they waited in an exam room for about a half hour and the highlight was hearing a young lady kitty, named Sassy , down the hall, cursing like a merchant marine..LOUDLY. Nikita said she used words he hadn't heard in years, in sentence combinations that he didn't think were possible, and certainly not lady-like. All that drama over having her nails done, hee, hee!
The vet did a thorough exam, took urine and blood for tests, and came to a few conclusions as a result.
Nikita weighs a shocking 9 lbs! This means he has lost over a pound since his last weight check.
His teeth and his ears were not the source of any problem that could cause his weight loss or lack of eating.
He has a slight heart murmur, and was given a pill to fight a slight bladder infection.
He remains on Prednisolone, and Aller G-3. The blood test results will be known tomorrow.
Check back with this post, in the evening, for an added update on what we learn.
Nikita didn't kill me, obviously, when he learned of my post from yesterday. He thanks everyone for their purrs and purrayers.
He took the exams like a trooper.
It took some convincing, but he was finally persuaded to give the human baby food a try.
The vet said to get Gerber Stage 2, in 2 1/2 oz. jars, and stick to the strictly meat varieties.
Daddy bought 3 each of the beef, chicken, ham and turkey, all with gravy, for starters, in case the blood results come back and indicate we need to get something else for some reason.
Nikita seemed to like the ham (70 calories and 8g of protein), which was his first choice to try, cleaning his food bowl in 2 trips.
Most interesting is the fact that, once he finished, he promptly went to take a nap, and that was 4 hours ago!
Daddy fed me, 2 hours ago, and Nikita didn't even stir.
If he wakes up before daddy goes to bed we shall see if he is hungry again.
****UPDATES - Wednesday****
130pm
Thanks everyone for the purrs and purrayers.
Well, this pre-blood result update has daddy & I stumped.
Nikita slept through the night, except for a litter box run, and water bowl run.
This morning he didn't pester daddy to get his butt up, but was up and around while daddy took his shower, pilled Nikita then set our breakfast bowls down.
Daddy set down the beef Gerber and Nikita tasted a little then went back to his nap after a water bowl run.
Daddy had an errand to run, and returned an hour ago. Except for litter box and water runs Nikita napped.
He was up when Daddy came up, looking out the window. Daddy set a serving of the gerber ham down but Nikita ignored it, drank some water and returned to his nap.
The only explanation we have gotten from Nikita is that he's not hungry for what's offered, but is thirsty, and just wants to nap.
We hope to learn more from the blood tests.
430pm: Nikita awoke and walked around a bit, but when daddy set down a little of his Sci-Di A/D he took a brief nible then returned to his nap.

Paws crossed that if anything shows up in your blood work Nikita, that it is easily treatable! Sending lots of purrs your way. Keep eating that tasty baby food!

We all hope you learn to like that baby food ... I've only known one baby who ever liked it, but he ate it with gusto!! My son! He's now 44 and amazingly healthy ... and I chalk up some of the credit to what he liked to eat as a baby!! (sets habits, you know!) Anyway ... eat up, young man, and put back some of your weight. Gotta be healthy to help your dad write excellent columns, you know!!
Love, us ~
