Daddy Kiril, and I, have come a long way since we took up Blogging a decade ago. :-D
Now, events of the last 2 weeks are giving us indications that Ceiling Cat, and His Human, may have plans for Elvira Mistress of Felinity, and us, moving forward.
Over a week ago Daddy Kiril was invited to a 1 day Building a No-Kill Pet Shelter Movement conference in Toronto, next week, featuring Nathan Winograd as speaker.
As much as He has saved up in his savings, since becoming unemployed, in the fall of 2010, even with finding the cheapest deals, after much thought He decided this was not what He was supposed to do.
We got the invite over a week ago in e-mail. It was a detailed Press Release with PDF's, from ORA - Organization for the Rescue of Animals - Toronto, Canada, that invited Daddy to attend the event, as a member of the Pet Media.
Attending the event itself would have been just $50, but the Plane fare, and hotel, well, the money for that would buy a hell of a lot of Kibble. ;-D
Daddy wrote back curious how they heard about Meowsings, and got this interesting reply inviting him to connect with them on Google +, that shows they are also fans of The CB...
Dear Kiril (and the Nikita Cat and the Meowsings Blog Team!),
Thank you so much for taking the time to write back to us and for adding a link for ORA-Organization for the Rescue of Animals to your sidebar. We are delighted to connect with you this way online!
Yes, we found you via Cat Blogosphere and have been following your website with amusement and interest over the past several months.
You were included in our small circle of invited media friends because we feel that you would represent the issues with fairness and much wit on your blog. You are not afraid to be opinionated, it shows - and we love it!
Having said that, we sincerely hope that you will consider joining us in Toronto in a couple of weeks if you are able to do so.
It would be a pleasure and an honor for ORA to have you attend and cover Nathan Winograd's first Toronto appearance for us on your blog.
If you are unable to attend, please consider adding a few words about the event in an appropriate place on Meowsings for your readers to help us gain further web exposure for this important event for animals. We look forward to your reply either way.
Then.... in the mail...
Daddy got word..."You have been issued the last benefit payment you can receive from your present claim for disability insurance because your benfits are exhausted...If your disability is permanent & is expected to continue, you may wish to contact Federal Soc. Sec. or state dept. of rehab to discuss eligibility for further benefits/assistance...."
All prayers, and advice, welcome, from Felinity Assembled...
Not exactly the best news to come along in light of the invite to Toronto but we have to believe this has all suddenly happened for a reason.
His Physical Therapy will possibly be ending, his medical, and maybe even the possibility of continuing with unemployment, just as he is beginning to focus on where to go from here, personally, careerwise, and creatively...
An FB friend wrote him this: Something that got me thru my toughest time:
Sometimes God asks you to do something that you are convinced He would never ask. Keep the listening ear attached to an open mind.
Soooo, Daddy spent the week contemplating his navel, and Elvira, & I, contemplated it as well. :-D
He even took a couple of bike rides to clear his head...Elvira took snoozes, and I took naps. :-D
Daddy wrote back thanking them for the invite, & wonderful compliments ( They are one of the few organizations, that we know of, to have actually taken the time to get to understand us, and our unique approach to Cat Blogging, and show an obvious appreciation for it ), and explaining why he couldn't go, but that Elvira & I would cover the story, and related websites, next week, here, and if they eventually have links, and videos, related to the event, send them to us for inclusion in our coverage.
They wrote back accepting, and saying.... "Henceforth, please do consider us your allies for animals online, and thank you for the exposure you give to important animal issues, and keep up the good work! "
So we are connected on FB, and on Twitter, but not Google +, as Daddy found it too complicated, and time consuming.
We have made new friends because of this, and that's a good thing.
By us writing about the event, and their organizations, and the no-kill cause, via their websites, and the PDF's sent us, maybe we can attract attention, and if they like what they see they might spread the word, and we can make new connections.
In the end going doesn't seem the right thing, or what may have been intended for him, to do, and here is why....
Robert Lee Brewer, author, writer, editor at Writer's Digest, Poet Laureate of the Blogosphere, and blogger extraordinaire, has set forth a challenge for budding, and experienced, writers alike, this month:
Build your Online Platform as a writer...creating a supportive framework that helps you challenge yourself, and come out of the 30 Daily Challenges with a stronger online platform and a better idea of how to continue growing that platform beyond April.
Daddy is 5 days into this Challenge (Day 1, with links to each succeeding entry.), and will have the 6th day posted on his blog, by the end of the day.
Elvira, & I, will have our own parts to play in this Challenge, so don't be surprised to see related posts pop up, here, possibly starting tonite. :-D
We agree with Daddy that, in the end, connectiing with ORA, deleting MY Facebook account (Possibly returning to FB, at some point, with Meowsings having a "Fan Page".), Daddy returning to using Twitter (Thus Tweeting his blog posts, and ours, too!), and his taking this Challenge, were meant to be, possible signs from The Great Creator, that we need to fearlessly take risks to move us, and Daddy, forward, personally, and creatively.

Dear Nikita, Elvira and Daddy Kiril,
We, too, are sorry that things did not work out so that Daddy Kiril could go to the ORA event.
Your approach to life and the way you are facing your current challenges are -- like so much of what you do -- inspirations to us.
We are sending you our purrs and prayers. And hugs, too!
Your pals at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life

You made a very sound decision, we all knew you would.
It was not easy, either.
We are happy, very happy, with what you decided.
We are so glad ORA connected with you on so many levels.
And you will give them great coverage. Wait until they see it!!!
We are also sorry that Daddy Kiril could not attend their event, but we bet there will be more opportunities in the near future.
We can see Daddy Kiril with his press badges covering a lot of events.
Love & Purrs,
Reepurrter KC
