Good evening Felinity Assembled, Nikita here, and I thnak everyone who has sent in their Purrs, & Purrayers, regarding my continued good health, it means a lot to me.
As previously noted I've been off my feed at least since Daddy had his Boo Boo, in May.
I have no idea why, even though I was eating the new dry food when I wanted, I was losing weight, and feeling thirsty all the time.
I have no idea how i could go to town on the Wet food only diet, the last week, and still not gain any weight either.
I feel fine, frisky, and curious, and playful, as usual, otherwise.
The test result came back, and Daddy just got thru chatting with our nice Doctor Lady about them.
She almost as puzzled as we are, and just as concerned.
My Blood Results came back perfect, but that doesn't do anything to explain the weight loss.
She said that, as skinny as I was my intestines felt a little prominent, which is abnormal, but not a definitive diagnosis of anything.
So what's all the concern?
A possible problem in the Gastrointestinal System...
Inflamatory Bowel Disease?
Intestinal Cancer?
Pancreatic Cancer?
None of these show up in the Blood work done.
The next logical step, testing-wise, would be an Abdominal Ultrasound that would cost Daddy $275.
They do not do payment plans.
The alternative is a Steroid Pill to control any infalmation, and cancer risk, with a side benefit that it would help relieve inflamation related to my arthritis.
Daddy is unable to spare another nearly $300, on top of yesterday, and so we are taking option #2, for the time being.
Daddy would buy an initial 2 months of pills, at $21, along with pill pockets to help me be more agreeable.:-D
Daddy would continue giving me the wet food, as much as 2, 5oz., cans a day.
The trick will be finding the cheapest Mature Adult, or Senior, brand, of quality, probably from Petco/Petsmart, or a Super Market, to save money.
I would go in for a free weight check every 2 weeks.
This is where things stand, as of this evening, and I would ask for all the purrs, and purrayers of the Cat Blogging Community, and the well wishs of our friends in the rest of the Critterverse.
It's not the end of the world and yes, it adds one one bit of stress for Daddy Kiril to be concerned about, on top of his own concerns, but we WILL make it to the otherside, have faith.
****UPDATE 850PM****
Thank you, very much, to Michelle, of the blog, Michelle's Menagerie, for being the 1700th Comment left on this blog (See comment, below), since it began on New Year's Day, 2010.
****END UPDATE****
I am praying for you!
I am glad your blood work came back good.
Our cat Chanel takes prednisone for allergies, and it's helped her a lot.
Keep us posted, and take care.

I'm glad that results don't show anything really abnormal immediately.
I would suggest NOT buying a pet food that's sold in the supermarket.
They tend to be the lowest quality there is.
I've worked in the pet food business for two different brands over the years, and this is widely known that supermarket foods are junk.
Look for a food that has at least two good protein sources in the first five ingredients and no corn, wheat, or soy.
Yes, these will be more expensive, but they will save you money in the long run by not creating more health problems.
Corn, wheat, and soy are known skin allergens.
I would recommend Blue Buffalo, Castor & Pollux, or Felidae.
All three have the requirements I listed above, and all three come in a "senior" or "mature" variety.

I am glad that your blood work all came back normal.
I don't have any suggestions, except to keep eating up all that good wet food.

Taz, Runt & Charles' Mommy mentioned yesterday about diabetes.
In cats, stress can cause diabetes and it can resolve (with medication & a low carb diet)
We wondered if Nikita had a blood sugar test (glucose is sometimes a bit high from full blood panel due to the stress of the blood draw.
There's a prick test the vet can do, which is cheap and instant.
We wondered if you knew about that?
We are sending lots of purrs and love for Nikita

Glad your blood work was good. Option #2 sounds like a sensible plan.
We don't know how you feel about Friskies which is made by Purina but they have a Senior With Lamb & Rice in Gravy that Socks loves.
Mommy can get 20 5.5 oz cans for $10 @ Winn-Dixie

Continued purrs and purrayers from us!
We're glad the blood work came back fine, though, but a mystery "illness" often can be more stressful than an actual diagnosis.
Good luck!
