Creative Nut Gets Writer's Block at LA Times Festival of Books!
That could just as easily be the title of this post, hee, hee! ;-D
Daddy spent yesterday in Los Angeles, on the campus of USC, across the street from the famous Felix Chevrolet, at Jefferson & Figueroa.
While there Daddy got Writer's Block, and bought a book.
The good thing is he also got the cure for Writer's Block.
Even better, he got to briefly meet the awesome, and legendary, Radio Show host, author, and internationally known pet and animal expert, Warren Eckstein, of The Pet Show, who graciously autographed a copy of his book for us!
Very, very cool! ;-D
Now, Elvira, and I, are nervous as all hell, because Daddy went, and gave Mr. Eckstein a copy of our flier...and what if he pays our humble blog a visit?
Daddy had several opportunities to chat with, and pass out fliers to, people at booths who, upon seeing the Flat Nikita & Elvira on his shirt, were amused, and curious. ;-D
He saw publishers, and authors, of books about Cats, fiction, and non-fiction, and even a company that specializes in wearable art, and funny shirts, including a line entirely about Cats, called Fo' Paws Productions. ;-D
At one booth he saw a whole line of Comics about Mice...I know, I couldn't believe it either, but the story was interesting, and artwork, beautiful, I'll give them that.
The cool thing, though, was that the booth was giving away a double-sided comic that, on the opposite side from the Mouse excerpt...was another comic excerpt, and the writer(Sam Humphries), and artist (Jeremy Love) of that were signing autographs! ;-D
Oh, and one more thing...the folks at Chapman University, in Orange, Ca., are a bunch of Wussies!
Chapman University says it's "all about creative expression in each and every undertaking" just like people such as Daddy, and creative critters such as Elvira, & I.....
Well, how then to explain what happened at their "Join the Conversation" booth, yesterday?
They were encouraging everyone brave enough to go before the camera to write down a word, and pose holding the card with it, for a photo.
The image would be downloaded so contributors would become part of "what might be the world's largest online text puzzle/poem/story/conversation.
When Daddy got home, and checked, last night, and even this morning, the Saturday contributions...his was not there.
Before he wrote his word he asked if it was OK, poinitng to his Flat Cats, and explaining who we were, and that the word has an ancient, honorable, history that is NOT vulgar.
The flustered young woman excused herself to go talk to someone empowered to make the decision, and came back with the OK.
Daddy posed in the same backround as everyone else, holding our image with the card, just as he does above, for added emphasis for the clueless, & Politically Correct. ;-D
When it came time to post on the Chapman website, where visitors can mix, and match, and make a 5 word sentence...his image was not among them, nor was his word.
"Join the Conversation"...just watch yer mouth! ;-D
Soooo, I went to their website, and played their game.
Creative Cats Write, & Enlighten!!
Take THAT, Chapman University English Dept., John Fowles Center, and Tabula Poetica!! ;-D
