Good evening everyone!
Despite what some claim Al Gore did not invent Blogging...and neither did members of worldwide Felinity Assembled.
Some of us were just among the earliest to put it to the use Ceiling Cat meant it for. ;-D
I wasn't among them, sad to say, at least not in the way the subject of this post did.
Daddy, & I, entered the internet in 1998, when I was a Kitten, began blogging in 2002 and, eventually, after several years, discovered the evolving Cat Blogging Community.
As my participation grew it finally dawned on Daddy that I deserved a place of my own. ;-D
Sparkle The Designer Cat has a Human Companion who was much quicker on the uptake than mine was. ;-D
Her Human is a professional writer and editor, and all this activity rubbed off on Sparkle, early on in her life (She will be 9 years old this summer), and one thing led to another, and a blog was born in 2003.
Sparkle is very shy, if you can believe that, after checking out her website, and seeing how encouraging she is of other Feline Bloggers, including even Elvira, hee, hee, and she avoids her public.
Whether that is a genetic trait of Somali Cats, I do not know. ;-D
While no doubt napping, and snoozing, one night a thought occured to Sparkle:
"When Cats have problems, who can better help them but another cat? I know there are other cat advice columns on the web, but frankly, they sound like some human was writing them!"
She figured that, what they were doing...she could do much, much better, and the rest is award winning history.
Besides..she's Pedigreed, and can those Humans claim THAT? ;-D
Her blog has several sides to it, but it is the Advice Column that led to her writing 2 books, and the reason I am writing this, and one other post.
I've read the first book and it's definitely not a yawner that will put you, or your Human, to sleep. ;-D
Being the premier Advice Columnist to Felinity Assembled is not easy, and the first 3 years on the beat provided considerable material to choose from for her first book. Dear Sparkle: Advice from One Cat to Another (No Humans!) The Humans were so impressed that it won an award at a Book Festival. This book has many photos of the author, all black & white, but no less lovely despite that. This book is a thoughtful exercise in giving advice to Felines, male, and female, fixed, and not, Home Bodies, and Feral, young, and old. It covers issues as varied as Wreck-reation, Cats, and other critters, the foibles of our Humans, Kibble issues, health, and beauty, and more, in a serious, honest, and truthful way. She dispenses this advice, and asides to any Human readers, with considerable Tough Love, and a smile, as only an opinionated SoCal Feline can. ;-D One example will suffice to show the value of this book... To a 7 month old Kitty, annoyed at the lack of toys to play with, and looking for advice on which Human items make the best toys: "Like many Cats before you who have suffered through the same dilemma, you will just have to play with whatever you can findlying around the house. The great thing is that Cats' imaginations are far more fanciful than humans' are, so there is probably a wealth of potential toys that your Humans may consider mere "junk". She goes on to suggest raiding the trash cans in the office, kitchen, and bathroom, and looking in places other than just a trash can, for all sorts of cool things to play with. Is this just brilliant advice, or what? ;-D So, dear fellow Felines, if you are sufficiently intrigued, and can convince your Human that you can't do without this book...there is a link in my sidebar to it on Amazon. ;-D If you have already read this book, or when you finally do, please share your thoughts in the comments below.
