Daddy has always had a peculiar sense of humor.
He says he began developing it in Junior High in the early 70's, but his greatest early inspiration came during High School, in the late 70's, as he discovered the wonderful Dr. Demento (Barry Hansen).
When the Doctor was in, bedtime was a fun, and wacky, time, as Daddy was rocked, and rolled, to sleep by the wonderful sense of humor of the Doctor, his cast, and the hilarious songs he showcased.
As Daddy grew older, and KMET radio bit the dust, Daddy lost track of the good Doctor, but never, ever, forgot him, even as his creativity took a powder from the mid-80's until he got a computer, and eventually became a Blogger.
Daddys humor, and poetry and, once he told me about the Doc, and played me many of the old songs, my own humor, and poetry, shared thru our blogging, owe alot to the Good Doctor. ;-D
The Doc changed with the times, and went online, and Daddy found him again, and checked in from time to time for a few minutes to see what was up, but it has been a while.
So it came as a surprise, and made us both sad, when we learned the Radio Show was being retired.
"This weekend (June 6), the Dr. Demento Show will have its final broadcast. This was a very painful decision for the Doctor ... he really hates to let it go after almost 40 years ... but he has come to agree with his manager and his family that it's necessary. The broadcast has been losing money for some time.
"THE GOOD NEWS – Dr. Demento intends to continue producing new shows every week for drdemento.com for the foreseeable future. A new one will be available Saturday morning, June 12, and more new shows will be posted every Saturday thereafter."
So why was I inspired, just like Daddy?

Any longtime fan will know what songs I'm talking about, and the list is a long, and distinguished, one.
Today I wish to thank the Doctor with my own pieces, inspired by 2 of those songs. ;-D

As I've mentioned, Daddy and I began blogging in 2002, and it was then that the Father of all Blog Carnivals was introduced on Sept 20, 2002 (Scroll down, and you will find it!), and the first Edition was here.
Daddy was inspired, for years, to submit from time to time, and this led to his hosting several Carnivals of various types, and this, in turn, led to my submitting, and hosting, Carnival of the Cats and the rest, as they say, is history. ;-D
The baton was passed in 2007, to Andrew Ian Dodge, of Dodgeblogium, and he has hosted it ever since (377th edition!).
The variety of subjects covered, from edition, to edition, still make for great, thought provoking, reading after all these years.
Daddy has not submitted to CotV in a long time and so, with this post, I honor, on behalf of Daddy, and myself, old friends, and blogging inspiration (Daddy has a huge grin on his face, tonite, and says he will start submitting posts from HIS blog, again, soon, he promises, and in the meantime, add a link in his sidebar.)
In the meantime, rest assured, Daddy, and I, will....

We're too young to remember Dr. Demento, but our Food Source told us he bought a Dr. Demento album many years ago, and all but wore it out.
He's checking out the website of the Doc right now.
