When I last gave an update on Daddy, last week, I was tackling his printer, and helping Daddy prepare for his meeting with a Cardiologist.
The Doc told Daddy he was gonna authorize 2 tests, one on a treadmill, and one using a Holter Monitor.
Those both occured this week.
Before I get to the details, let me warn you...If you have kittens in the home, you may not want them to view my Daddy, from the chest up, without a shirt. ;-D
When I saw this contraption my first reaction was...No way you getting ME on that thing!
But then, as Daddy told me about what happened it didn't seem so hard, ;-D
So, Tuesday afternoon, Daddy went to his appointment.
Earlier in the day, at his Primary Doctor, his Blood Pressure was measured at 122 over 80, and he had a pulse (64) !
On his way to breakfast, and with 3 hours to kill before he had to be at the Cardio, Daddy went to the beach ( Seen & Heard #3: The Bird was Right, Daddy Checked! )
At the Cardio his pulse began at 69 Heartbeats per Minute.
The nice lady stuck 10 patches on his stomach, and chest, and they had cords that went to that white computer-like machine.
Having never been on a treadmill, in any serious way, before it took a couple of minutes for Daddy to get the hang of it.
He stuck his hands on the front bar, and the track began moving slowly at a 10% incline as he began to walk.
The goal was to get his pulse going at 153.
So the faster the track went the faster he began to run, and his heart to beat....
And, on 2nd thought, I don't think I wanna get on this thing after all! ;-D
The incline rose to 18%, and the speed was 5mph, during the last minute of the test, and Daddy, huffed, and puffed, his way to the finish.
Preliminary results show him under normal stress, with no blocked artery.
This means that there is no indication, so far, that his seizure was caused by a blockage.
There WERE a couple of skipped beats, and this will be something the Holter will help evaluate.
So...on Wednesday morning, Daddy went to Hoag Hospital to get the Holter.
Is MY Daddy a hunk of Cat lovin' 50 year old manhood, or what?
On second thought, um, never mind...hee, hee! ;-D
Ok, where was I?
Daddy had to wear this contraption for 24 hours, and take notes of what he did, when, and how long.
Walking, bus rides, puttering around the house, sleeping, eating, going up, and down the 1 flight of srtairs to, & from, our apartment, even riding his bike 5 miles (including one small hill).
I took it upon myself to make sure Daddy kept track of everything, especially while at home.
This meant sacrificing some of my naps, and snoozes, but anything for my beloved Daddy! ;-D
Daddy said those sticky patches occasionally itched, but I told him to suck it up, and be a brave Human.
He looked at me, and said, "Easy for you to say, you don't have all these things stuck on YOU!"
And glad I was, too, since they probably would have had to shave me something beyond a standard full-body shave, I think. ;-D
Anyway, as he got off the bus this morning, near the hospital, he was privy to a fascinating encounter between Crow and Squirrel ( Seen and Heard #4: The Real OC, Survival of the Fittest in Newport Beach ). ;-D
The results of the Monitor will be sent to his Docs, and follow-up appointments will be made so he can learn what everything means.
In an interesting side note...Daddy found some Cat Care Information being distributed in one of the waiting areas!

Our beans look so funny wifout clothes.
Too bad they don't haf purrty furry coats like us.

Our bean looks funny without clothes too - it must be a human thing.
We're looking forward to hearing your technical response to the monitor readings Nikita - it's a good thing that you have read a medical dictionary.

WE will be purring and praying that his results come back good.
You are quite the medical expert, what would your daddy do without you.
Have a great weekend.
