Welcome to Carnival of the Cats #309!
The Carnival of the Cats is a weekly roundup of cat-related posts on weblogs, in America, and around the world, who choose to submit a post for inclusion.
For us Cat Bloggers the Carnival is a chance to discover blogs we might never have heard of, on subjects of all kinds, and you can learn more about the carnival, and how to participate, here.
Valentine's Day is all about Showing the Love, and this Carnival, as well as the others out there, are all about Love, and sharing, through spreading the word about all the great blogging out there, about us Felines. ;-D
We have quite a few submissions, so let's get this show on the road!
1. Treaclechops - The Blog of Champions, is full of the musings of a self-described "Crazy Lady". ;-D
Valentine's Day, being all about love, one of the most important places for showing that love is the bed.
Usually, if you are a Human, that involves just you, and your Significant Other, if you have one.
However, sometimes it can involve a Threesome, or even more! =^..^=
I'll let Tash explain:
let me fill you in on my little predicament that I now find myself in. That being that I now have to fight to get a small space in the bed to sleep in (Heaven forbid I need to roll over). It usually starts with me standing at the foot of the bed looking forlornly at Dale who is curled up snoozing away like a little kitten in the middle of the bed (only he twitches a lot, so it’s more like a kitten on CRACK!) and to the left of him… Zeus. Who has now taken to sleeping horizontally across what he deems as being HIS side. What happened to cats curling themselves up… noooo he tries to make himself… longer.
And there’s what’s left for me to sleep on… a few small centimetres. So I have now taken to getting into bed and doing a small exercise called a “Bed angel”....
This wonderfully long, detailed story, Threesome..., will have you laughing untill you cry, and searching out more from the last 2 years of this blog, whether it's about Felines, or not. ;-D
2. Some Humans think Valentine's Day is strictly for the birds...
We Cats love birds! We love to watch birds! Some of us like to count birds! Some of us love to even EAT the little darlings, too! ;-D
Love is not just grand, but edumicational, and, um, even tasty! ;-D
Cokie the Cat...Hollywood Insider explains:
You know, there are few things in life a cat enjoys more than watching birds and once a year we can do what we do best AND take part in a national scientific project. We're Doctors of Birdology!
The BGGC happens once a year, when tens of thousands of bird watchers of all ages create a snapshot of where the birds are across the U.S. & Canada. It's a four day event - this year from February 12 - 15, 2010.
Cokie explains what the Great Backyard Bird Count is all about, and shares info on how, and where, to participate, and pictures!
3. Elisson, reminds us, with a simple, yet beautiful, photo, of Hakuna, and Matata, that love is sometimes "Bittersweet... with the sweet far outweighing the bitter, tasting all the better owing to the contrast."
4. and 5. Valentine's Day is about showing you care about your Humans, and so, over at This, That, and the Other Thing, the Cats discuss why their Feline Friday Photos were late in posting. ;-D
In another post the Humans show Kosmo the love in some cute photos on Caturday. ;-D
6. Valentine's Day is an important day for Guy Kitties with mates, girl friends, or female roomies, just as it is for the Humans...
Over at My Cats and Funny Stories, Arthur is simply "THRILLED" that Rosie is back from the Vet, & Pookie bemoans the possible loss of a short-lived peace, and quiet. ;-D
Hey, they live in Waterloo, a place not exactly known, in history, for peace, and quiet (Daddy just finished reading Vol. 3 of A History of the English Speaking Peoples, by Winston Churchill, which devotes the last section of the work to The Age of Napoleon, and the Hissy Fits that occurred in Europe during those decades of the late 18th, and early 19th, centuries.). ;-D
Mog, & Feline Friends, had an exciting, and fun filled , week!
7. Meowza loves to roll in the dirt, and Valentine's Day can be about doing someting you, and your Human both love.
In this case it involves cameras. ;-D
Meowza shows off some splendid technique in acrobatics!
8. Over at Ilnfidel, Ritzi radiates love and happiness, while posing on her bed. ;-D
9. Valentine's Day is also a day for scratching, um, an itch...sometimes lots of them and, over at Mind of Mog, Meowza shows us how it's done. ;-D
10. Valentine's Day means showing an interest in something your Human likes, but you might not have a clue what the fuss is about.
Over at CatSynth, Luna poses, cutely, with something called a Monome. ;-D
11. Over at StrangeRanger Valentine's Day means showing your love for your Feline by not taking it out in the snow, and giving it some treats. ;-D
12. Valentine's Day is about spreading the love around to all those that you care for, and, over at When Cat's Attack, for "A 28 year old crazy cat lady from Tennessee", that means 12 Kitties of various breeds, genders, and personalities. ;-D
This post shares some wonderful pictures, and updates that tell about the kitties, and some of their issues, and personality quirks. ;-D
13 - 16. As for me...Daddy and I collaborate on a project I call "Street Seens: Cats Outdoors, Thru the Daddy Cam", and this week he found 2 examples of the love that Cats show, not just for their Human, and their home, but for their neighbors, and even the curious passer-by. ;-D
In this photo a Feline guards something very important to its Human from the guy with the Flashy Box, riding a bicycle: Street Seens 6: It's MY Human's Water Hose, and You Can't Have It!
Up next is a Photo Spread, taken yesterday, the result of a surprising encounter with a friendly, photogenic, Feline, who was eager to meet the Man With the Flashy Box it had heard, and read, so much about. ;-D
Street Seens 8: I Love Your Work! Please, Take All Ya Want!
As I bring this edition of Carnival to a close let me say how much I love my Daddy!
We found each other, at a Shelter, not long after I was born ( I got some old pictures, around here somewhere, and will get around to posting them, I promise!), and our mutual love affair quickly grew into an online collaboration, especially once Daddy took up blogging in 2002.
Daddy showed his love for me, last month, when he decided it was time to set me off on my own, and that he would do all he could to help me spread the word, about this blog, in a very special way that only a Cat Lover would come up with.
See that adorable shirt? My Daddy is such a brave Human to wear that on his days off, I think you would agree. ;-D
Oh, and if you would like to try your hand at Poetry, my Poetry Challenge is still accepting thru Midnight of the 18th!
The Ballad of Catigan's Mile, Cat Poetry and a Challenge
I will be 12 years old, on March 5th, just as Daddy also turns something he calls "The Big 50" that day, and we are both gald to be alive, and very glad to have each other! ;-D
(If any last minute submissions arrive I will add them after my afternoon nap!)
What a great Valentine's Carnival!
With all of the Valentine/Mardi Gras Festivities over the weekend, I forgot to send my link but I am enjoying visiting all the participating cats!
