I am just soooo excited! Yes, I am! Honest! Just look, can't you see it in my f...
Oh, um, hi, um, Welcome to Meowsings of an Opinionated Pussycat! ;-D
I AM so very excited about this day!
Happy New Year!
I am Nikita Cat, welcome to my world! ;-D
That's me in the pictures!
All 2 ft. long, 16 lbs, lovable black, gray and white striped Cat of me. (I look simply adorable in my Lion Cut, with my white paws, and belly, even if I do say so myself!)
Love my form in performing the Full Sun to the Belly Kitty Yoga Technique?
All MALE, too! Um, well, except for the fact I'm fixed that is...Sorry Ladies :-(
The Mad Macedonian is my roommate, friend and Best Buddy.
As you can tell by my photos I am a BIG Cat. ;-D
I am not fat, just well built and with a dry food diet that, with a bowl set down 24/7, I can munch on at my leisure I am a healthy Cat who eats when ever I get the urge.
I am not a talkative Cat, picking and choosing my moments.
I mostly confine my talk to welcoming Daddy home from work every day and sometimes at other times when he's returned from a lengthy excursion from home.
Yes, we can converse with each other, in English and Felinese, quite nicely, thank you very much!
I can recognize his footsteps a block away and I sit on the table by the door until he opens it, loudly and enthusiastically welcoming him home.
I love sitting in the window.
It has always been my favorite spot where ever we live.
The passing parade is varied and interesting, keeping me vastly entertained for hours on end when I'm alone, or Daddy is busy.
I have ample room to stretch out, if I want, with Daddy's bed.
(This photo shows me performing the Eyes Wide Open Side Body Kitty Yoga Technique!)
I am never truly alone when Daddy is gone.
The neighborhood Cats come by and hang out on the driveway below, or outside the front door, for a chat; a rabbit and possum have also come by.
All Daddy has to do is look at me and I get this mischievous grin (That's the way Daddy describes it.) on my face and stretch out so he can scratch my belly, and under my chin (God, I LOVE that!).
You see, I have a sense of humor and a playful streak. I am intelligent as well (Unlike some of the above mentioned Felines.).
These traits manifested themselves in several ways.
I asked Daddy to explain, as I want to keep some sort of modesty and not seem to be tooting my own horn too much:
I should have realized it by the way he acted the day I found him at the Humane Society.
As I looked at a cage full of Kittens and their Mother, I was about to look elsewhere because of the lackluster look of the litter when, from the back of the crowd, a smaller than the rest little critter pushed forward, approached the bars of the cage, climb up a bit and meowed a tiny "Wassup?"
It was love at first sight. :-D
I took him home to be a companion to my old yellow Warrior and the 3 short months they were together, before he passed on, taught Nikita a lot and livened up the once lonely life of the Old Man.
Nikita wasn't quite a year old when he discovered how making noises by shaking a piece of paper could be a useful skill for a Cat to have.
He learned pretty quickly that I always filled his food bowl in the morning when I got up.
I guess he felt I should get up much earlier than 7am because one day I awoke at 5am with him quietly nuzzling my face.
I rubbed him and turned over to go back to sleep; the next thing I know I hear the shaking of a piece of paper on the nightstand next to the bed.
I ignored it and a few minutes later I hear the sound of paper falling to the floor.
Poking my head out from under the covers I see paper on the floor and Nikita sitting on the nightstand with a grin on his face, looking at me expectantly.
My first mistake was getting out of bed and picking up the paper.
The 2nd was going to the kitchen, filling his empty food bowl and returning to bed.
Here's where that superior IQ kicks in. :-D
It only took a week of this for Nikita to put 2 and 2 together and his favorite game was born. :-D
Truth to tell, despite my annoyance, I enjoy it too.
Even when he decides to play "toss the paper" from 3 to 5am, for no apparent reason whatsoever. :-D
I'll get up, cuss his ass out, stack all available pieces of paper out of reach and go grumbling back to bed.
When we lived in a 1 bedroom apartment there was a variation on this game that REALLY shows how smart this Cat is:
If I didn't want to feed him at 5 am, I'd toss his Ass out of the bedroom and close the door.
A few minutes later there would come the sound of a piece of paper being shoved UNDER the door!
Sometimes 2 or 3 would be needed to get my, in HIS mind, lazy carcass out of bed to fill his food bowl. :-D
His playfulness and intelligence also exhibit themselves in other ways:
When he chases a laser dot, or a mouse from a pole hanging from the closet.
When I make like chasing him around the apartment.
When we engage in a little roughhousing on the bed as I pet and tickle him in such a way that he can't easily "get out of my grasp".
Ok, I'm blushing. ;-D
I've never been allowed to be an outdoor Cat.
The only times I have been out of the apartment have been in a Cat carrier as we travel by bike, or bus, to the vet and those times I have snuck past Daddy to stand briefly outside after he opens the front door.
Then there was the time I accidentally spent a day outside alone, but that's a story for another day. (Oh, and a few other times, but more on that in the future, too.)
When I'm not napping I prowl the internet checking Feline related websites and the writing of other Cat Bloggers when Daddy is not online himself.
(The above photo shows me performing the Half Sun to the Belly Kitty Yoga Technique!)
I am an opinionated Pussycat and am unafraid to speak my mind.
My Motto is...
I was born in March 1998 and not long afterwards my Mom, and her litter, found themselves in a cage at the Humane Society.
One day, a month later, the human who became my Best Bud wandered in and when I saw him I just KNEW we were destined for each other.
When he got a computer and went online, I watched and learned to read and type, and then I spent some of the time when he was away from the house to teach myself to use the computer.
When I finally revealed my talents to Daddy these new skills came as no surprise because we'd already been on speaking terms for quite some time.
When Daddy went online he joined a long since defunct Message Board Community on the old Time Magazine website, and I occasionally posted there, too.
Becoming a blogger was a natural extension of this activity.
In 2002 Daddy became a Blogger, and it was not long before I was posting on the blog as well.
My participation evolved over the years, gradually increasing.
By the time Daddy made the decision to close that blog, in the Fall of 2007, and start a new one, he and I had decided to make me a Co-Blogger whose name appeared in the credits part of my posts, and allow me to increase my participation as the inspiration struck me.
As time went by I increased the frequency of my postings, and expanded my section of the sidebars on that blog.
Along the way I became a frequent host of Carnival of the Cats, and have been linked, and praised by bloggers in various ways, and become a Calendar Pin-Up Kitty.
We noticed that my efforts have been well received, and get people, and Cats, to leave comments.
We got to talking about whether it was time to take the next step and set me up on a blog all my own, like most of the blogs in the Cat Blogosphere, including many of the very best there are.
And, so, here I am, setting up my new home.
Please pardon the dust, as construction is not quite complete, yet, in the sidebars, and may last thru the middle of the month (Among other things I have to give the Shelter and Rescue Links their own section!
You may have noticed that the contents of the sidebars are unlike those of most Blogs in our corner of the Blogosphere, and that is intentional on my part as I will explain in a future post.
I'll end with more about me...
Every Cat has things he, or she, enjoys doing and mine include eating, sleeping, playing, looking out the window, watching TV and movies, reading, surfing the net and blogging.
I have a ton of movies I love and here are a few of them:
Adventures of Milo and Otis, Cat Ballou, That Darn Cat! (Both Versions.), Catwoman, Cat in the Hat, Cat from Outer Space, Incredible Journey and Homeward Bound and its sequel, Cats and Dogs, and Cats Don't Dance.
I also have many favorite actors, actresses and celebs and here is just a partial list:
Cat in the Hat, Claude the Cat, Courageous Cat, Danny, Felix the Cat, Milo, Morris, Penelope Pussycat, Pete Puma, Pussyfoot, Sassy, Sawyer, Sylvester J. Pussycat and his son Sylvester Jr., and Top Cat.
There is some much that is cool and wonderful about our "Community" that a Cat would need more than the allotted 9 Lives to check it all out!
But I will try, hee, hee!
I plan to cover a lot of subjects, on this blog, on a regular basis, and there will be many Category Archives developing in the weeks ahead.
I will be hosting Carnival of the Cats 12 times, Weekend Cat Blogging 10 times, and maybe Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos, a few times, too, but more on all this later.
For now I wish to continue introducing myself, this morning, and invite you to visit my next post, for an important revelation. ;-D

I think this is a fantastic introduction. Why on earth are you not writing a book about your experiences? I think you need to slap some sense into Daddy Kiril!! There is so much beauty here!

Thank you, Amanda.
“The Autobiography of an Opinionated Pussycat” DOES have a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? :-D
