Welcome to Carnival of the Cats #305!
The Carnival of the Cats is a weekly roundup of cat-related posts on weblogs, in America, and around the world, who choose to submit a post for inclusion.
For us Cat Bloggers the Carnival is a chance to discover blogs we might never have heard of, on subjects of all kinds, and you can learn more about the carnival, and how to participate, here.
The last 2 weeks have been busy ones, around here, as I keep getting distracted from moving in to my new digs (After sharing with Daddy for over 7 years!) with blogging about current events, and with responding to the positve e-mails of support I've gotten over the new place. ;-D
I still need to move some links around in the sidebars, set up the 1st posts for a bunch of Subject Categories, and bring over some posts, from the old place, that I believe are relevant to the direction I want to take this blog.
Want to know about me?
Want to read, and respond to, an essay about my thoughts on what I think is, to a Cat, possibly the finest word in any language?
Those links are under my photo in the sidebar, if you choose to explore them, as are a ton of Feline related links in the rest of the sidebars.
Let's get this show on the road!
1. Over at StrangeRanger, Maddie is, not lazy, just tired after a busy episode of boxing. ;-D
2. Speaking of being lazy, and just relaxing the day away...Over at This is Cyprus Sue shares with us some wonderful pictures of her 3 darling Senior Catizens, Sophia, Tessie, and Cleo.
3. If you pay attention to the news in the Human World you know that travelling ain't what it used to be.
Especially if you go by Airplane.
Something about Nudity (Maybe even the related Full-body Shave, too, for all I know!), and exposing your privates to folks with scanners, and, cameras.
Now, um, some of us Felines are perfectly comfortable with this practice...
Some, though, are not and, I imagine that conversations like the one between Rosie and Arthur, over at My Cats and Funny Stories, are occuring all around the world.
4. Some Cats are thankful for Krinkle Balls, Mousie Toys, and Birds Dangling on a String...
Some Cats are thankful for Catnip, and Kitty Treats...
Then there are some Cats who are thankful for all those things, and more besides, including...dirt??
5. Meanwhile, over at Mind of Mog...Meowza has issues with his Mother, Ritzi. ;-D
6. Back to this dirt thing, a moment...
Outdoor Cats know what the most important use for dirt is.
Indoor Cats know that special types of dirt are provided for our toilet facilities.
This is all well, and good, but some Humans, and their Cats, are not satisfied with seperate toilets...
For Cats, this obsession with the Toilet used by their Human begins innocently enough...
Have you ever noticed...
That when any of your humans has to use their Litter Box, you are drawn to sit there intently observing the process?
If so, then you might be interested in where this might eventually lead...
Not that that's neccessarily a bad thing, just not MY thing. ;-D
Anyway, where was I?
Over at Laughing Cat Blog, Gizmo explains what's up:
"Not only is my owner trying to toilet train me, she’s blogging about it!! How embarrassing is that? Apparently, it’s around a 30-day process. I’m sure I’ll wear her down by then."
Well, I don't know...From what this post says it appears that Gizmo has taken a real shine to this "Pooping & Pissing in the Potty" thing. ;-D
From unhousebroken to toilet trained.
To get serious for a moment...there's really more to this story, of a Kitty Health nature, going back to September, and you can read about this in an archive on the blog, listed in the sidebar, under the title of "Toilet Training".
As Gizmo's Human explains in one old post:
"One of the major reasons why I started this blog is because the very idea a cat can be toilet trained is rather fascinating. But mainly it is because cats that aren’t litter-box perfect are too often abandoned to shelters.
Indiscriminate elimination is one of the major reasons why they’re there, according the ASPCA. Of these, an estimated 71 percent are never re-homed. Instead, their fate is lethal injection according to a study 1997 study by the National Counsel on Pet Population. I won’t go into the numbers; they’re way too depressing."
Check it out.
7. Over at The Cat Post Intelligencer Cheysuli visits the beach to promote a "Find Chey" contest, and wonders if anyone would mind too terribly if she used the abundant "facilities" next to the water?
OK...I think that should finally, um, cover it for the Potty Break. ;-D
8. Over at House of the (Mostly) Black Cats, Boni Maroni shares a really cool photo!
9. Over at Blog d'Elisson there another cool photo as Hakuna catches some sun!
10. As readers of my blog know I've begun sharing photos of Cats that Daddy encounters on his travels to and from work, and elsewhere, in a category of posts I call "Street Seens" (2 posts, and 3 pictures so far!).
Daddy is not the only one who does this.
Rahel, of Elms in the Yard, in Jerusalem, has been doing it for a while now, and shares some more great photos.
Daddy is positively inspired by her efforts. ;-D
11. I swear...what some Cats go thru just to get some milk!
Over at Funnycats Video Clips, you can enjoy a short video illustration. ;-D
As for me, in order to bring this weeks carnival up to a Lucky 13...here are my contributions for the week:
12. The only time I've spent more than a few minutes outside alone, many years ago, freaked ME out ;-D
It is quite a tale, one not for the faint of heart.
I'm an Indoor Cat, and am Content to Remain So!
13. Health is an important matter for Felines, just as it is for Humans, even if we do have Nine Lives to work with.
I have a lot of links related to health in the sidebar, and plan to blog about health in the future.
For now, though, I wish to share a story about my latest Annual Physical, and about my Vet of choice.
A Healthy Pussy is a Happy Pussy: My Vets are at The Cat Care Clinic
Well, that's all for this week, unless some late additions arrive later this evening. ;-D
Next weekend I will be hosting Weekend Cat Blogging, and will have a Preview Post up sometime Friday Morning, in preperation for posting the edition itself by Noon PST, on Sunday.
You can learn how to submit at the official site for Weekend Cat Blogging.
I will also be hosting the next Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos, on Feb 7th.
As this is my 1st time doing it there is no Optional Theme, just a hope that we get lots of January Submissions from representatives of Pussydom Assembled!
You can learn how to submit at the official site for Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos.
Well, it's 320pm, and raining outside, time for me to take a nap!
Right after I set this post for publishing at 4pm!
Hope you have as much fun perusing these submissions as I did! ;-D
And if, after exploring this blog, and its sidebars, you like the place, spread the word! ;-D
