You can read about his experience and see photos of the inside and outside of the venue, here.
It goes without saying that Daddy's performance was very well received.
Well, he finally had the chance to make a return and chose to dress up in his paw print suspenders, stick our old "MEOW!Ask Me About the Most Opinionated Pussycats in America" name badge on his shirt and share 3 poems by Nikita!
What he did not expect was who would greet him when he walked in the room...
Miss Negra...resident feline of the venue.
He had not encountered her in either of his visits, last month, and no-one knew he was going to share feline poetry this night, yet there she was approaching him with evident recognition of him being a kindred spirit and with curiosity to meet and welcome him to her home with open paws.
Daddy learned she is about 10 years old and has called this business and its grounds home for almost as long as she has been alive.
She walked comfortably and unafraid, around the room, the clear Queen of All She Surveyed, worshiped by all humans who encountered her.
While she didn't speak to him, with all the humans around, she let him give her a chin scritch and belly rub....
Daddy Kiril, here, to celebrate the year that was and ring in the year that will be, the 5th year in the life of this blog, a blog that began on this day in 2010.
Elvira Mistress of Felinity and Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo join me in thanking everyone who has read our work, encouraged us and helped us in 2014, especially the past several months, as we took steps toward a fresh start for the new year.
All of it has been a true blessing and we are forever grateful.
The girls have been pretty much offline for the past couple of weeks but now that we are online again they are preparing to start the new year with a bang by sharing our move-in adventure, with photos, so stay tuned.
A lot of positive things have occurred in the life of this blog since Sneakers Jan. 4 debut post and that is what I wish to remember with this post and hope that any curious newbies to our blog will use these links as a way to introduce themselves to what this blog has to offer.
Comments are welcome and sharing the links is encouraged....
Thursday Daddy Kiril had a doctors appointment and decided, afterward, to go downtown to visit Allen's Landing again.
Allen's Landing, on Buffalo Bayou, is the birthplace of the city of Houston. It was here that a couple of humans arrived on a boat and decided to build a settlement. From here the city grew and expanded and the landing area went through many ups and downs and a variety of uses.
After decades of neglect the humans have been working on giving the place a new look and new uses since 2001, with the final project now in developement at last.
As readers know the CWA is the professional writers’ association "encouraging professionalism among cat writers, photographers, artists, and broadcasters" that I was sponsored to become a professional member of in the aftermath of attending Blog Paws last Spring.
There are 4 yrs. of archived issues, online, for members to read, and to explore these 20 to 40 page masterpieces is to open a whole new world of perspective altering, hope inspiring, thought-provoking reading.
As I wrote the editor, today, I may not have yet participated much in the various CWA social media forums, but I DO read.
But a celestial committee, led no doubt by Nikita, with its other members being previous cats and dogs in my life, going back 40 years, apparently had other ideas and, well....
I have had a cold for a week and got my flu shot and coming home, Wednesday afternoon, a few hours before leaving for work, I stopped by the mail box.
As I walked to the elevator I heard a hearty "hello!" Looking down I saw a tiny kitten come out of the bushes toward me.
As I knelt to reply it scooted back into the bushes, but soon came back out, loudly purring like a motorboat, a shy smile on its face.
ME: Hi there, little one! Are you lost?
KITTEN: I'm cold, hungry and thirsty, I know that. Can you make me warm?
It was windy and in the 50's and going to be 35 over night...no way was I going to say no.
So, kitten in one hand, I guided my bike into the elevator, down the hall, past 2 doors, down another hall and into the apartment. I then put the little one securely into a carrier while I went back for a picture of where I'd found it.
I learned from a maintenance man that the kitten had been in those bushes since at least 10am. I put a "Found Kitten" sign by the mail boxes, laundry room and one other well traveled spot (Call this number, and give me identifying details to ID the kitten as yours) . I set down a litter box, water and kibble, in my walk-in closet, then left for work.
