In case your naps and snoozes got in the way and you missed the news....
Like Sneakers I was attracted to the sillier stuff in the book...which meant I had to try real hard to hold my laughter to low-key giggles because laugh-out-loud guffawing and belly laughs could have hurt my surgery area and risk rupturing stitches.
Daddy is happy with the way the surgery area looks and I am proud not to have messed with the area, as well.
My job with this post is to help promote the book launch and adoption event that will be held to help celebrate National Tabby Day.
With the help of Buffy and the humans who helped with the book, one of New York City's most reputable shelters, Bideawee, and the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals are helping to launch the book, and celebrate the first-ever National Tabby Day (celebrating cats of all varieties, National Tabby Day was April 9th!), at an event scheduled for Saturday, April 30 in Manhattan.
There will be adoptions, from 10am to 6pm, with a special celebration, from noon to 2, featuring the book launch with author Sandy Robins, with drinks and treats human and animal attendees.
The cool thing is that anyone adopting from the shelter that day will get a very generous starter kit with items for their animal companion from the event's sponsors and a photo-op with the book's photographer, Paul Smulson.
Bideawee Animal Shelter is OLD...I mean ANCIENT!
Metropolitan New York and Long Island have been served by this organization for more than 112 years!
This great pet welfare organization has a resource rich website that promotes cat and dog adoptions and events, volunteering, pet therapy, animal hospitals, epet health, pet memorial parks, pet loss support, and dog training classes and has an occasionally updated blog and an online shop.
Their motto is "Animal people for people who love animals".
Their website is here and the event will be held at their Manhattan location:
410 East 38th Street New York, NY 10016
The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals is a non-profit charity and the sole umbrella organization for animal welfare in NYC. Since 2003, they have been working with a coalition of 150+ rescue groups and shelters to find homes for thousands of New York City's dogs and cats.
Their mission? "Committed to seeing the day when no New York City dog or cat of reasonable health and temperament is killed merely because he or she does not have a home."
The Alliance website has lots of cool pet health resources and information, event, innitiative, and news sections specific to the New York area, a media section and a "How You Can Help" section.
Let me end by saying that this National Tabby Day event has some real cool sponsors.
Gold-level event sponsors include Worldwise’s SmartyKat and Petlinks lines; Lucy Pet Foundation; Merrick Pet Care’s Purrfect Bistro line ( Yay Texas!! ); Loving Pets’ Bella line; Petmate; and the Algonquin Hotel (The Legend of the Algonquin Cat!). Silver-level event sponsors include Clean Healthy Bowls; PetSafe; and Perrigo Animal Health.
