Thursday Daddy Kiril had a doctors appointment and decided, afterward, to go downtown to visit Allen's Landing again.
Allen's Landing, on Buffalo Bayou, is the birthplace of the city of Houston. It was here that a couple of humans arrived on a boat and decided to build a settlement. From here the city grew and expanded and the landing area went through many ups and downs and a variety of uses.
After decades of neglect the humans have been working on giving the place a new look and new uses since 2001, with the final project now in developement at last.
Because of the construction daddy found his way down to the opposite bank of the bayou , by way of steps off of the Fannin St. Bridge, and, while there, had an interesting encounter with a local resident.
There are plenty of local history resources and archives, in the library, courts, city records and old laws, newspapers and elsewhere that could prove useful in looking into the history of cats in this town so who knows what daddy could turn up with the time to dig.
Anyway, about those cats under a bridge near the landing....
For those just discovering our blog....Daddy, like the fictional Dr. Doolittle, understands the words of many critters. He is thus able to have the most interesting encounters not to mention that the things he's overheard them say, about cats especially, have always been interesting to us.
