As 2014 begins a fresh voice joins this site.
Hi, my name is Sneakers and I say hello to you.
As I begin to participate in a world that is new,
Learning to express myself in awesome ways,
Here’s hoping that, in the upcoming days,
Neither I in my writing, nor you in your response,
Gives the other a huge, scary, fright!
Um, hello, I am Sneakers the Texian Tuxedo (I'm still getting used to that last part)...When Elvira, on New Year's Day, said to me, "there's no time like the present", I ask for what?
"Why, for you to introduce yourself on the blog, silly! What else?"
The rest of our talk was held with me hiding under the bed, in a panic.
What was I going to write? Elvira only just told me I was doing so well at learning my reading, writing and talking, in Daddy's language, and now she was saying this meant I was good to go public with those skills?
What the meow? I am not even near as old as SHE was when she first blogged!
I wanted more time. Can't we wait until I get my hoohaw fixed (the 9th), at least?
"No", she said, "putting off getting your paws wet serves no useful purpose and I have the utmost confidence you will not embarrass yourself, me, or Daddy Kiril."
That settled I got down to the business of thinking what to do in my first post.
I don't have anything really embarrassing to discuss, like Elvira did her first time.
Oh, wait! There is the matter of my mad dashes out the door when daddy comes home.
When daddy opens the door, to come in, I am so right there! I don't know why, but I dash past him, hang a left and just run, slip and slide, excitedly down the length of the hallway!
When I come to a stop and hear daddy call me to come back and get inside, I slowly do so, pausing every few feet to sniff at the wall.
Sometimes daddy gets so annoyed he comes and picks me up, scolding me every step back to the apartment...I protest, asking "what did I do? That was fun!"
At the end of the hall, when you turn left, again, there is a storage room and a door to the outside, but they are always closed, so what's the fuss?
Anyway, enough about that; when I settled down, after the chat with Elvira, to figure out what to write today one thing I wanted to do was express what I am feeling, right now, and the little poem above is the best I could do.
I hope you like my first post.
I am glad to be asked to be a part of this and though I can never take Nikita's place in the hearts of the fans of this blog, I hope I will live up to his standards, and become accepted as a creative kitty, special in my own right.
OK, I'm tired...can I go take an afternoon nap, now?
