"I am putting the finishing touches on something I have been writing all month long for possible submission to a "call for submissions" from FitCat Publishing, soon, something Nikita told me he was extremely proud of.
The piece will be 3000 to 3200 words long, and tells the story of my arrival in the home of Daddy Kiril and Nikita, how I disrupted their lives, and how Nikita mentored me through those first few months, that fall of 2010."
It was hard work, during a time when I was worried about Nikita, but I completed it, with his encouragement, and submitted it before the deadline!
The upshot is the following:
while the piece was not chosen for inclusion in a planned 2014 anthology....it was praised and received the very high compliment of being included among runners-up who will be considered if any of the chosen ultimately need replacing, for some reason, between now and the middle of January.
Can you say "MEOWWOWWOW!"?
Sparkle Mom made it clear she really liked my story, and wrote the following...
"I encourage you to keep working on it and submitting it elsewhere, or use it for a project of your own. Good luck with your future writing endeavors and when I have other books in the works, you are welcome to submit another story."
This meant a lot to me and I spent more time awake and purring last night than napping!
I actually have 2 versions of the piece, the one submitted and one with a 450 word section, not told from my point of view, about how I was rescued.
As the sentence leading into that section reads..."Some don't want to know the truth because the truth can often be painful or just plain boring as hell. Before I continue with the truth, let me share the legend."
I hope Nikita is happy and proud at the news, at Rainbow Bridge.
He would no doubt say this is another case of Synchroncatity in our lives.
Yes, that's Daddy Kiril & Sparkle Mom in 2011. :-D
