Friends, felines, countrypussies, lend me your eyes...
While my guys are napping I have taken matters into my own paws and done something Daddy Kiril has been reluctant to do; I changed the message under the Paypal Donate Button our blog and on daddy's as well.
Why? For the love of my mentor Mr. Nikita, who, at 15+, has had an ongoing series of medical issues since October 2010, which have us all concerned.
Those of you who have read this blog over the years are familiar with his ongoing medical saga.
He has not been eating right, or well, for a couple of years and what tests daddy could afford only told us so much and the meds prescribed didn't seem to help.
Irritable Bowel Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease, Hyperthyroidism? Other than a small heart murmur we do not know what's up for sure.
In a post, last week, after we visited our new vet for the first time, Nikita shared the latest;
Daddy was given 2 options to consider if he chooses to go forward, at some point, with the 5 tests mentioned by Nikita:
Doing each item separately means the cost will run around $448.89, not counting any taxes, or treatments deemed neccessary upon examination and commencement of the included treatments.
If the tests are all done together, at the same time, the cost is reduced to an estimated $354.25
That is a lot of Green Papers, either way, but our circumstances are such, despite daddy's new job (PT, Temporary, 22-37 hrs a week, minimum wage), that daddy is worried about paying the rent and being able to keep us in food and litter.
As a note he e-mailed a friend explains (Yeah, I copied it! I'm a bad girl, so sue me!):
"Right now, I am at my wits end trying to get Nikita to eat enough.
It has been suggested I buy dry food and set a couple bowls down for both cats to graze on while I am at work, but I don't want Elvira to get fat again, and I don't want my roach infestation to get worse."
Nikita and Daddy Kiril are both proud men who have continued to put up brave fronts on this blog and on daddy's, through 3 years of daddy's unemployment and own medical issues.
Reading some of the latest by daddy, over the past month, has led me to nap and keep watch, next to him as he sleeps, something I never did before (He keeps wanting to take a photo, when he awakens and sees me, but I run off to my cat tower).
So, the donation button note now reads:
