Good afternoon, felinity assembled, this is the promised update about me, from our first visit with our new vet last week.
Daddy and Dr. Amira Abdel-Malek, of Lakeside Animal Clinic, had a nice long chat and I listened to them from the comfort of my carrier, and since have done some online research.
As many of you know there has been uncertainty, for several years, as to why I have gone from 17 to 9 lbs, and not been able to eat enough to maintain a healthy weigh level; Irritable Bowel Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease, Hyperthyroidism, we have not been able to know more because daddy could not afford the tests. I also have a small heart murmur (level 2 out of 6).
He's been reluctant to put too much on the Care Credit card, especially now, when we are living practically month to month, if not day to day, despite his getting his first job in 3 years (Walmart-PT Temporary).
She has explained to Daddy Kiril that, short of a Biopsy, the best way to start gettting definitive answers about my condition, so we can properly treat it, is a series of 5 shots and tests:
"Symptoms in kitties, of Pancreatitis, are easy to miss initially.
The most common signs are lethargy and lack of appetite. Since cats sleep a lot anyway and many are finicky eaters, signs of a sick pancreas can be mistaken for normal feline behavior. Some cats do show signs of a tender abdomen, vomiting and even a fever, but they tend to be the exception and not the rule."
Daddy was given 2 options to consider if he chooses to go forward, at some point, with these:
Doing each item separately means the cost will run around $448.89, not counting any taxes, or treatments deemed neccessary upon examination and commencement of the included treatments.
If the tests are all done together, at the same time, the cost is reduced to an estimated $354.25
The doc suggested we switch me over to kitten food because the nutrients are geared toward helping the youth of felinity assembled to build muscle and weight.
Daddy may look into that, wet and dry, because I don't even eat full 5.5oz cans of the Fancy Feast, as much as I like it.
I am off my meds for now and just this morning I tossed what little I ate of breakfast for the first time in a month.
So, friends, there ya have it.
Time to resume my afternoon nap!
