For some reason I have not yet been tempted to climb into the hammock. The only chairs I sleep on are the 2 gray folding chairs by daddy's desk, and table, so it may take me awhile to give this a shot.

Happy day after Christmas, felinity assembled!
Elvira Mistress of Felinity here, ready to share the opening of our secret paws package on Christmas Day.
The package arrived on the 6th, but Daddy Kiril played scrooge, and we had to wait until yesterday. How do you like that?
Before I continue there is an important medical update about daddy. He goes in for an operation on his left eye on Friday. Nikita and I are calling on the power of the purr to get him through this day surgery!
One of daddy's sisters will arrive this afternoon to help us take care of him through the 1st of January. Apparently she had serious doubts about our ability to take care of him all by ourselves. Well, all I have to say is...hmph!

Let's get this show on the road!
1. As we settle in to Houston we are looking to learn about shelters and rescues in the area.
One of the oldest, and most respected is Citizens for Animal Protection.
It describes itself this way: "Citizens for Animal Protection is a non-profit organization, founded in 1972, which shelters, rescues and places homeless animals for adoption with loving families. CAP advocates respect and compassion for animal life and provides humane education to help prevent cruelty to animals."
Recently, it "received a grant for $10,000.00 from the national ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in New York. The grant will be used to supplement the cost of four “Feral Cat Surgery Days” at CAP’s in-house clinic."
How this all squares with a very disturbing story in a recent edition of the Houston Press Weekly is something we hope to discover by exploring the website now that we have our computer back. It seems some volunteers, and a big name activist in town, have been caught doing a few things they shouldn't.
Added value to this story is the lengthy back and forth, involving several players in the story, disputing various things, and a comment by a rep of No Kill Houston pointing out that Cap4pets is not Open Admission or No Kill (Even supposedly "keeping their kill rate a secret from the public")

Daddy Kiril had 3 Doctors peering into his eyes, yesterday, and the prognosis is, let's just say "complex".
Worrisome, too, to Elvira and I, as well as Daddy, though he is doing his best to not show it.

You know, even the reindeer who pull the sleigh for Santa get sick once in a while.
Ever wonder what would happen if one particular reindeer couldn't perform this year? :-D

And Felix and Garfield,
Heathcliff and Hobbes.
And Penelope and the Pink Panther,
Snagglepuss and Stimpy,
Sylvester, Tigger and Tom,
But do you recall
The most famous pussycat of all?
Randy, the red-nosed pussycat
had a very shiny nose.
And when the shelter humans saw him,
they were amazed at how it glows.
All of the other felines
used to growl and make all sorts of noise.
They never even let poor Randy
play with any of the feline toys.
Then one chilly Chrissymouse Eve
Santa came to say:
"Randy with your bright light,
Rudy's sick, will you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then all the felines loved him
as they howled out in glee,
Randy the red-nosed pussycat,
you just made history!

Daddy Kiril was out, and about, in parts of Houston, yesterday. He had his camera handy, took the time to ask a few questions, and even was witness to a remarkable scene that will make your day, especially if you have bird issues. :-D

Daddy, like the fictional Dr. Doolittle, understands the words of many critters, and the things he's heard them say, about cats especially, have always been interesting to us.
Far too many humans have no clue how often cats come up in conversations among other animals...now daddy, and Meowsings, set out to reveal what is going on right under their noses. ;-D

Nikita here and I am pleased to report that we are able, at last, to bring you the first entry in this series from Houston! :-D
The last entry was back in August, in Garden Grove, Ca.
Earlier this week, Daddy Kiril made several trips to MLK Clinic, in South Houston, on Swingle.
On Cullen he saw a group of goats in a fenced in yard.
According to daddy the buildings nearby, including the home, on this large property, looked, um, interesting :-D
Doing a google, for "Grumpy's Goats", found a lot of entries, but nothing related to this bunch.
Daddy decided to walk by the place, take a couple of photos, and see if he could overhear anything interesting. :-D
