Here's a Story...

Good evening Felinity Assembled, Elvira Mistress of Felinity, here, and I want to help lighten the mood, and at the same time, on behalf of Nikita, and Daddy Kiril, say thank you to everyone for the  continued purrs and purrayers, and donations.

We are trying to keep things as normal as we can through this crisis, and one piece of that normalcy will be still participating in secret paws this year, with more than 50 other cats.

Before Daddy Kiril's eye problems we had been assigned our secret paw, and had sent Daddy out to get the gifts for them.

At some point, next week, we will be mailing the package out. :-D

The other was a cat like her.

of a man named Daddy Kiril,
Who was living in the state where he had grown.
He and two cats, together.
In Santa Ana, Ca. all alone.

'Till one day when the man had an idea,
After two years, and much thought, he had a hunch,

Carnival of the Cats #454: After Thanksgiving Edition

So did you enjoy Thanksgiving? By that I mean...Did you get Any? Turkey that is! :-D (Great image from Zoolatry!)

For reasons mentioned below Daddy didn't cook his Turkey until yesterday evening.

This afternoon he set down plates with some Turkey, for us, and I saw something I never thought I'd live to see (I AM 14 yrs. old, afterall)...Elvira Mistress of Felinity chowing down on something other than dry food!

You will just have to take my word for it, as Daddy forgot to have his Camera handy. :-D

Purrs & Purrayers for Daddy Kiril: Eye Yi Yi! Didn't See This Coming

 

Good evening Felinity Assembled, Nikita and Elvira Mistress of Felinity, here, and we ask for your Purrs and Purrayers for Daddy Kiril.

Long time friends and readers, going back to when Nikita and Daddy shared a blog, know that Daddy is extremely nearsighted in the left eye, and had Cataract surgery in 2006, on this eye.

Yesterday Daddy was standing on a street corner, just a mile from home, when something strange occurred, in this eye, that blurred his vision.

Totally unexpected, and puzzling.

Purrs and Purrayers For a Long Time Friend and Her Humans

Dear friends in the Cat Blogging Community, I, Elvira, and Daddy Kiril, ask you to send much needed purrs and purrayers, to a dear friend of ours, and her Humans.

ZoZo, and one of her Humans, BJ, were, in 2002, instrumental in persuading Daddy Kiril and I to begin blogging, and have been frequent commentors, strong cheerleaders, and advisors as we set out on this continuing writing adventure, ever since.

Her Human sent 2 messages that have us concerned, and sending purrs and purrayers their way:

 1. Zozo has continued to lose weight and is at the specialist this morning, it doesn't look good, tests will tell. It could be hyperthyroidism, but I have a really bad feeling about it. :'^(

2. It's not good news, we'll know for sure Friday if it's lymphoma or leukemia, either way the prognosis is poor and no realistic treatment options given that she's eleven years old. It just wouldn't be fair to subject her to chemo when the outcome will only be a few more months. We'd rather she spend her remaining days laying in the sun in her favorite spots.

We'll keep her comfortable  until it's time to say goodbye.

This is the really awful part of having pets.

The Power of the Purr, as shared by our Community over the years, has done wonders in helping our fellow felines, and even their Humans, through times of illness, and provided great comfort as journey's to Rainbow Bridge took place.

On this Day of Thanksgiving we are eternally grateful, and thankful to have Zoe and BJ in our lives, and are sending our own Purrs and Purrayers, and warm thoughts, their way.

Thank you all for your prayers for my sweet Zozo and kind comments.

We're blessed to share our lives with these wonderful creatures.

Zoe's basking in a morning sun puddle nearby as I type this, smiling, winking and nodding at me as usual. She's no longer the chubby tabby in the photos, but she's still bossing her dog, Harley, around and ruling the cat roost.

I'm struggling to not to tear up constantly so I'll stop, again, thank you for your kind words and thoughts.

Daddy Kiril At Large Returns!: Carter's Pet Depot of Houston

Good evening Felinity Assembled, Elvira Mistress of Felinity here, and boy do we have the perfect way to welcome the return of this series for the first time since July (Daddy Kiril At Large: OC Fair is Cat's Meow!). :-D

I did a Google for Cat Stores in Houston, and the first thing that came up was Carter's Pet Depot, a 2 store, family run operation that is part of the independent Pet Depot chain based in Ca..

The Carter's stores are in the Memorial District of Houston, and I suggested Daddy Kiril go check them out.

He went to the original store, off Echo Ln. & Katy Frwy, and was greeted at the door by a friendly female employee.

As he walked around the cashier register area, he encountered the Store Supervisor & Official Greeter, laying on the floor, as content as can be.

No, it was not a cat, but a beautiful German Shepherd. :-D

Street Seens 59: Strays in a Downtown Houston Park

Good evening Felinity Assembled, Nikita here, with an October encounter Daddy Kiril had in a small park, near City Hall, and the Central Public Library, in Downtown Houston.

There is a lot of grass, and plenty of trees in the park, and other places to hang out in and explore, without venturing too far away and risking a fatal encounter with the overwhelming amount of traffic on the streets that Daddy says is there, even on the weekend.

In the back part of this photo is where a colony of feral cats hang out, and where, Daddy learned, downtown workers leave small bowls of food.

When Daddy came down a flight of stairs, into this paved area, he was met by the sight of 2 cats awaked by his approach.

Street Seens 58: Encounter in the Courtyard

Good evening Felinity Assembled, Nikita here, with an October encounter our neighbors had with one of the Dogs that lives in the complex.

The Dog was taking its Human out for Walkies, and called a timeout to check on its Pee Mail...

As you can see someone was annoyed that the Dog was taking so long to leave a, um, message of its own. :-D

This was aso the only time Daddy Kiril has been able to get the solid White Cat on camera. :-D

Daddy has mostly seen this one in another, nearby, part of the complex.

The Talk of Felinity Assembled #1: A Weekly Update Reborn

Good afternoon, Felinity Assembled, not to mention Cat Lovers, worldwide, Elvira Mistress of Felinity, here.

Way back in the spring of 2011, Nikita and I had begun a series of weekly round-ups, usually posted on Monday, or Tuesday, letting evryone know of various ongoing and regular events around the community.

The last entry was posted 4 days before Daddy Kiril broke his ankle.

A lot has happened since then and now that we are relocated, and ready to move forward again, we figured it was time to start the series up once more.

Some of the regular events we reported no longer occur so we are trying to gather information on anything new going on, from short term, to ongoing in  nature.

Today on Mayzie's blog, we announced "Wag N' Swag: a Fundraiser for Sandy Pets." We've chosen three deserving LOCAL no-kill shelters/rescues who have been on the front lines of the efforts to help displaced pets.

My thoughts were that, while it is certainly good to give to the larger organizations like HSUS and ASPCA, it can take awhile for those funds to trickle down to the local rescues, if ever. And having personally done work with several small rescues, I know that every dollar counts, especially in a time like this.
