It is with a sad, and heavy, heart, that I come to you today.
This is the last edition of Bad Kitty Cats Festival of Chaos, and there will only be 2 more editions of the Weekend Cat Blogging Carnival.
Why? I hear some of you ask...
To tell you the truth both events might have ended at this time, last year, especially Bad Kitty, except that Kashim, Othello, Salome (Last blogged in October), and their Human, Astrid wrote shout-outs to see if anyone was still interested in hosting, much less submitting entries.
As many old timers know myself, and others, responded, and both events were kept up.
I even filled in several times when it was clear that, for some reason, Astrid & crew were not hosting their spots (Including at Carnival of the Cats), and were unable to be reached to find out how they were doing.
We are still unable to reach them as of this writing.
While just about every Cat who blogs forsakes many of their weekend snoozes so as to make a post, or 3, submissions of those masterworks to WCB, had been scarce for the last 2 years, compared to the glory days, and then, of course, if you believe the slim number of submissions, each month, for Bad Kitty, you'd be forgiven for assuming that every Feline worth their 9 Lives, myself included, suddenly are all little angels of rectitude, hee, hee! ;-D
It appears that the only events still going, applicable to Pussydom Assembled, aside from Friday Ark, are the great Camera Critters, which makes it easy to submit an entry, without any effort, and the Grand Daddy of all Critter Carnivals...Carnival of the Cats.
Old timers will remember the origins of that event, and the huge, eager, participation, of its early years.
I remember how my discovering it was a revelation that I was not alone, as a Cat Blogger, afterall! ;-D
Submissions have been down there, this year, as well, and everyone knows how often I, & Elvira, hosted, amidst our, um, rather interesting year, but I, and its caretaker, Miz Mog, among others, believe that it is possible to return it to glory, and its righful place as a showcase of all that Pussydom Assembled, the world over, has to offer the Blogosphere.
You see, I, and Daddy, were there not long after the Grand Daddy of ALL Carnivals, began, and Carnival of the Vanities is still going strong, 8 years later, with a new caretaker.
We fancy ourselves amateur journalists, writers, storytellers, poets, humorists, and photographers, and now Elvira Mistress of Pussydom is showing she is a quick study.
The Cat Blogging Community is made up of bloggers who exhibit some, or all, of those same traits, and more, in their blogging, and with sites such as The Cat Blgosphere, Blog Paws, and Anipal Times, among others, to encourage creativity, and networking, the future of our corner of the Blogosphere is a bright one.
Daddy, & I, had plans for this blog, last spring, but some of those went by the wayside, with all the things that happened in our lives since early May.
As we head into 2011 we surveyed the above realities, and realized that the best thing to do would be to let Bad Kitty, and WCB, retire, with honor, from the field, and encourage contributors to both, and the community at large, to support Granpa (CoTC). ;-D
I will be hosting most Carnivals in 2011, but we still have spots available, so visit the Carnival Home Page, and contact Mog if you can volunteer.

It has been a difficult year, for Babeth, and family, as this November post explains before getting to the latest story to tell.
For those who remember the tragic story of poor Frankendrolleke the new story might upset you, but even sad stories, very well told, and illustrated with touching photos, are worth reading, and one can only hope that things turn out better in 2011.
